Abstract
Women Health is a branch of medicine that focuses on the health of women. Women’s health differs from men’s health because of various issues, including socialization, discrimination, and cultural beliefs. Women’s health focuses on several specialties, including pregnancy and childbirth, menopause, and female cancers, especially breast cancer, cervical cancer, sexual health. These issues need to be considered and be more focused on, especially in the marginalized areas where such problems are ignored. It is, therefore, essential to advance women’s health through comprehensive research and innovation. In this decade, many challenges and concerns have been raised despite radical changes in technology, infrastructure, and civilization; it is unfortunate that such challenges still exist.
Issues Affecting Women’s Health
There are multiple women’s health issues that are seen in the society, some of which as discussed below;
Pregnancy and childbirth. The mortality rate of women due to pregnancy complications is still an issue even with technology. These issues are more common in the third world because of financial strains, lack of proper government policies to protect women, misleading sociocultural practices, and low health standards.
Female Cancers. In recent years, there has been a rise in the number of cancer cases in the first world countries and spread to third-world countries. More deaths are experienced in low-income countries prevention and treatment is unaffordable. Women tend to be burdened by gender inequality roles they have to play in the family for them to be able to focus on treatment, hence the high death rate.
Marginalization. Women are marginalized in society. This organization affects their health in that their health issues are not given priority. In marginalized areas, the company is not educated about proper health practices such as safe childbirth, contraception, cancer screening, and upholding acceptable health standards. This formation especially because they lack awareness, poverty, and primitive cultures such as giving birth at home or female genital mutilation.
Depression and Anxiety. Women may experience depression at some point in their lives due to some factors, including natural hormonal fluctuations that cause premenstrual symptoms and, in some cases, can lead to depression. Menopause and perinatal depression are common, and people should be educated about seeking proper health care. Violence against Women. Women experience abuse, especially sexual and physical abuse, which causes long term mental and physical effects. Women are not protected well in society because they do not get justice in most of these cases. This formation deteriorates their health.
Women’s Health Advancement
A most crucial goal in women’s health advancement is research based on the significant issues discussed above. The goal is to manage these issues to provide the best possible quality health care for women. Women’s health research has previously been mainly focused on reproductive health but has recently expanded to research on issues such as cancer and other diseases. Women and society, in general, should be thoroughly educated about safe childbirth practices and safe contraception.
International bodies such as the UN should advocate for implementing and enforcing policies that protect women’s health care, including affordable maternity fees, cheap cancer treatment, and free mental health care. Innovative programs should be implemented, which should solve preventable issues experienced in women’s health care.
Conclusion
Women’s health research can experience significant advancements if the measures discussed are implemented. Women will be able to access quality health from wherever they are.
