Womenonics: is a blockade that prevents women’s from participating in the economy, through work and other social events. It is an important term in Jordan as it created so many barriers for women not to work or take part in any aspects that relate to work opportunities or policies, despite the efforts been set by the government, to equalize most of these opportunities so women can also benefit from this, Jordan continues to experience the lowest rate of women in the workforce even though government is working on improving the gap aspect of the existing gap between women and the constitution remain questionable. (CourseHero, 2020).
My interesting findings in regards to the Arabic textbooks are as follow:
It states that the Arabic text books were written for males. This means it was written with the male students in mind.
The Arabic language is a gendered language that differentiates males and females both in nouns and verb forms
It also differentiates occupations that are suitable for males and females.
I found this to be interesting in the sense that “the textbook was written in favour of males and not of females, it’s more of females are told what to do as well as what they can’t do. So, if this textbook is written for the males what then is out there for the females?
As for the strategies, the first thing the Jordanian government needs to do is to fix the female’s constitutional rights, even though the government is trying to, it’s not just enough. It’s one thing to say it but it’s another thing to advocate and take immediate action.
After the constitution is properly amended to equalize the work and social events aspect, create an all-inclusive agenda for any candidate that is qualified for the job with no limitation or barrier.
Promoting and sponsoring all kinds of female programs so they can feel empowered.
In my country starting from the government official males are the most dominant gender in the workforce today, in some states is more religious-based while in other states it’s more in regards to masculinity, with the notion that men are the head while females should assume the role of followers. Actually, when I think about this question it takes me back to so many election days and I keep asking why are women not in the race? And it boils down to males having more of the controlling power to make the ultimate decision in our current society.
Where I live, I believe it can improve when we start believing in ourselves and not to be afraid to have a voice, after all, we all have equal rights in society just as much as anyone. Society shouldn’t dictate to us who should be in charge and who shouldn’t be we also have a voice if we can learn to speak out.
