Why I want to Join The program
It has also been my dream for the East African community to become one state. We are a people who share a lot in common, starting from a common language of Swahili and some countries even sharing the same cultures.
Being a Kenyan, pursuing this master’s program in Information Technology at the University of Dodoma will allow me to see how my brothers and sisters in Tanzania use technology to convey information.
I have always been told Tanzanians have zero tolerance for tribalism compared to my country, despite them having numerous tribes than my country. Studying in their university will give me a glimpse of how they treat each other equally, and of course, with that experience, I will have to implement it in Kenya.
What I Do
Currently, I’m a part-time communication and information tutor at Kenya Coast National Polytechnic. Being in a position of influence as teacher.I believe pursuing this masters degree program will give me more knowledge in my field and also be able to pass the knowledge of how other people live to remove the misconception our countries have of each other.
Starting in 2020, I designed a website called Asali Digitals. On the site, I run a blog that teaches Start-Ups how to use digital marketing, more so social media marketing, to get clients. I write articles that guide entrepreneurs in digital marketing. I also provide easy steps to follow in marketing that will help Start-Ups.
Masters In Information Technology will give me a glimpse of how to engage some other parts of East Africa instead of solely Kenya.
How I will apply The Skills acquired
The program allows us to build networks and connections throughout East Africa. With these contacts, my networks and I will be able to share ideas. Since we come from different countries, we will invite each other to give talks, seminars, or even webinars in our various countries.
For example, I will offer my Tanzanian network a platform to talk to my students. I can also do the same in their various endeavors.
After finishing the course, I would like to offer a free consultancy fee in matters to do with Information Technology. I will also engage in constructive debates with different stakeholders to improve relationships between East African countries—for example, engage EAC MPs.
Where I want to be professionally and academically in 5 to 10 years
After finishing my masters, I would also want to pursue a Ph.D. within five years. In a decade, I want to have a multination foundation that helps disadvantaged children access education up to their desired levels. I also want to start schools that focus on building a child’s talents from a young age.
Conclusion
Generally, it’s my dream one day for EAC to have a common currency. The countries to operate without borders, and one leader in my lifetime.
