Why Does My French bulldog Cry at Night?
French bulldogs are friendly and make one of the best companions one would ever have for a pet. They are playful, accommodative, and you can carry them around all day. At night though, the endless whining from your Frenchie can be unsettling, and you may need to understand why your Frenchie cries in the night.
Here are the reasons why your French bulldogs cry at night
Due To the Stage Of Life, They Are At
Young Age
Young puppies are prone to crying at night. Primarily, they suffer from separation anxiety – being detached from her mom, littermates, and breeder.
Secondly, being a Frenchie, company means the world to them. And while night loneliness cuts across all age groups for French bulldogs, the early years are particularly lonely.
This loneliness becomes even more apparent during the night, especially if you are trying to adapt them to sleeping in a crate or a separate bed. The disillusion may be expressed with lots of crying.
Old Age
Among the symptoms that old French dogs suffer from, dementia (disturbance in their sleep patterns) is one of them.
For Frenchies, old age means they are about six years, and you may start to notice disturbances in their sleep that make them restless and crying.
When Communicating Needs
Aside from the obvious need to eat, drink, and do potty that Frenchies are known to communicate by crying. The night crying may also be to communicate pain, the need for attention, and the uncomfortable feeling of extreme weather.
How to Help Them Stop Crying At Night
Regarding age, there is nothing much that you can do to young new puppy suffering from separation anxiety. They are adapting to a new environment, and the crying may persist up to the fourth week before they can adjust.
However, for the loneliness across all age groups, Sleeping in a crate means they are spending long hours away from you and Frenchies don’t like it that way. You can supply them with toys in their crates that can distract them as they bite on (a need they particularly have when they are teething). Soft music would also help them cope with loneliness.
For night cry theming that is a result of Frenchies communicating a need; be keen to make provision for their obvious needs as you retire to bed.
Night crying is a common thing with French bulldogs. Their clingy nature makes them desire more of our presence. And the temptation of sharing your bed with them in a bid to make them feel less lonely can be irresistible.
However, you want to be careful when making that decision for these two reasons. The habit of sharing a bed with you can be difficult to untrain thereafter.
Again, French dogs snore, toss restlessly in their sleep, and fart a lot. If you can put up with those vices, let them enjoy your company
