- What does it mean to YOU to live a meaningful life, a life well-lived, a “good life.”
In life, one is considered to enjoy a good life if he or she portraits ethical and moral standards. Moral standards are virtues a person exercises such as kindness, generous, honest, selfless, patience, etc. When a person posses most of these virtues, he or she is considered to be the right person. Ethical standards are principles that a person follows keenly, which promote values such as kindness, honesty, etc. In general, these standards help a person to keep good relations with the people around them, and he or she is seen as a role model for many in society. People may attain these standards from their parents, close friends, or their way of life.
In the present century for a person to be seen to have lived a good life, he or she must attain the following; good education, at least be in the middle-class in the society, a perfect family, a variety of businesses, etc. Breaking through in life is not that easy; there are many challenges I faced in the process. Before I excelled in my business, I had made multiple losses, and at some point, I even lacked capital. I dropped out of campus due to lack of fees; being raised by a single parent who was jobless made it hard hence after my business breakthrough, I decided to finish my studies. Involvement with wrong friends has been a significant struggle because many of them did not have any ambitions or goals set to be achieved compared to me. In my life, I vary things between needs and wants, so I tend to carter for the needs mostly, e.g., I prefer not buying a car but possessing a title deed.
- What have you found that life expects from you?
I appreciate and cherish each moment because it is not by my grace to be living but God’s grace. I want to be the reason for someone’s happiness, make my parents proud, help as many people as possible, etc. I want to create the life I always dreamt of, and I ensure there are some development and growth from the person I was yesterday. I challenge myself daily to keep learning something new because success does not come your way when you are in your comfort zone.
I keep on chasing my dreams to become a successful person in society and my children to enjoy the fruits of my labor. It is normal to get discouraged when things get tough in life and its struggles. Many people ask themselves what they can get out of life instead of what the entity expects from them. In life, I have overcome many challenges and struggles which tend to put me down, but I interpret these struggles as my source of motivation. In life, there are three ways we can find meaning in our lives: by working, experiencing some of these encounters with someone, and the attitude we take towards the struggles.
Each day I work hard to bring meaning to my life and fulfill the purpose life has for me, this includes; having good work habits with my employees, strengthening my relationships with friends and family, being a role model to my siblings and having a positive attitude whenever faced with challenges. Pain and suffering are just stages in life; how you conquer them is what matters.
- What do you want to leave as your legacy, giving back something to the world or society to make the world/society a better place?
In life, I have always wished to help out as many people as possible in several ways, may it be financially, giving advice, creating jobs, etc. In today’s world, many youths are jobless, and many of them have associated themselves with crime and drug abuse. These behaviors make me a sad person, watching a young adult who can be of great help to his or her family, ending up getting murdered or jailed for this act.
Hence to help curb this, I have built some companies and industries to create job opportunities as many youths as possible. To those addicted to drug abuse, I have to make a counseling center for them to get rehabilitated.
Nowadays, there are many kids on the streets begging, which is as a result of being orphans; some were mistreated by their parents or guardians hence run away from their homes. It is so disturbing walking on the streets, and a child runs towards you to borrow some pocket change that you have. I decided on building up orphanages, which will be the homes of such children and also develop a system of taking them back to school for them to be better people in the community. These will also motivate them in helping others such as them in the future; hence the cycle will keep on recurring itself.
