Video Review
The video by Dr. Adolph Brown explains that we are natured from our surroundings and people. He explains that the society, we should never judge anyone by their appearance or dressing. Dr, Adolph explains that we have to be accommodative enough to understand where they are coming from to understand someone. In a school environment, educators are the teachers and all the staff that touches the child’s life. He explains educators should be reminded of where all the children come from, their community and the environment to understand how to handle them individually as we are all turn out different.
According to Dr. Brown, every little gesture and support we offer goes a long way and most people turn out from what the society around them utter towards them. We learn from him that class management is important, and for all teachers to be accommodative. Good relationships between the teachers and their students are important because it enables teachers to create room for them. Being a teacher is a calling, and one has to be everyone’s person. When we love our students and children, we will encourage them towards their dreams and not what we desire them to be. Not every child dreams of the bigger professions, considering a child’s want and dream is important.
Most of the time, we judge people from their looks, which deprives them of getting some benefits. For example, when someone goes to the bant requesting a loan and is dressed like hip hop artist, they are not granted the loans for its assumed they can never be in a position to pay. Many times we would not understand people unless we get into their shoes. People grieve from things they go through, and most of the time, lacking people to nature and guide them leads to them lacking the coping mechanism of survival.
It is not always where one comes from, but the choices they make go a long way. We tend to assume that learning starts from home but not every child is privileged to come from a home environment or have one to be their role model. Some things are not by choice, but what one goes through creates them. Trees are always from the seeds; if thrown away, they wouldn’t grow, but I planted, water, and taken care of they turn out well and produce more, and that is how we should all nurture young ones.
The video has given me a better understanding of special education that words we utter towards children go a long way. It keeps on clicking into their psychology as they grow. Being accommodative to everyone is something we should all embrace because we can never know what drives us or turn out to what they are. I have also understood that no career is important than the other, and every other child has a right to be what they want. All we have to do is be supportive and guide them through the process.
Last, cooperation and collaborations are important and not competition. If we instill the competitive spirit into the younger generation, we aim towards failure in the future. Without cooperation, we can never share ideas and nurture someone else’s growth but only aim to develop our own to gain more. A brighter future is built on a positive foundation.
