Djokovic, Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric, and Viktor Troicki all tested positive for after the even organized by Novak Djokovic in Belgrade. All these layers took part in the Adria Tour, where the social distancing norms were limited. World No.1 Novak Djokovic was highly criticized for his actions. He decided to Twitter to explain the situation and apologize for his mistake. Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem also took part in the competition but were tested negative, although Djokovic’s wife has been tested positive. He urged everybody who attended the tournament to get tested; there was a daily crowd of 4,000 people in attendance. He admitted that he and the organizing committee were wrong in conducting an event so soon and probably said it isn’t the right time for tennis’s return. He said that his intentions were pure while organizing, and it was done because of his goodwill and pure heart, he didn’t mean to harm anybody. US Open Grand Slam is scheduled to begin on August 31, and many are voicing their concern over organizing such a significant event when the world is on the brink of crisis. The layers tested positive embraced after the match and even went to a party in the nightclub. Australia’s Nick Krygios, who is often an animated figure on the court, commented that is was utterly stupid to organize the event. He wrote, “Don’t @ me for anything I’ve done that has been ‘irresponsible’ or classified as ‘stupidity’ — this takes the cake.” This event has sent warning across the world to organizers who are planning to bring back sports to normalcy. Andy Murray, a three-time Grand Slam winner, also commented that it was poor decision to go ahead with this event, and seeing the kid’s day and nightclub dance of these players seems to be utterly foolish. Although he said that USTA’s Grand Slam would be very different with many more restrictions in place. Djokovic also happens to be the president of the ATP players council and his recent actions like training in Spain during the lockdown. He commented that following USTA’s guidelines to be impossible for player ahs raised doubts over his reliability. Tenuis has been badly hit, but this event and overall by the coronavirus as their global tour has come to a halt, and any restart seems to be far from sight at this moment.
