Training paper 1
First and foremost, ensuring I retain qualified nurses would be a priority. I would improve their working conditions as we often see nurses being burnt-out while at work, increasing patient mortality rates. The nursing economics 2005 issue reported insufficient staffing in hospitals causes high-stress levels and low job satisfaction among nurses (Jee,2020). To conquer this, I would make their working conditions more reasonable by hours more reasonable by employing many nurses and paying fairer salaries to motivate them to give the best services. I would also offer higher training programs to enhance the nurse’s skills further. An example of such a plan already in place is the Nursing school strategic partnership and initiative that helps expand student capacity. The injection of 5.3 million dollars to develop clinical placement sites by the University of Minnesota lays the foundation and example for this thought and improvement process.
Consequently, my team and I would recruit additional nurses by coming up with a plan to address the shortage of registered nurses and nurse educators. A UW System Economic Development Incentive Grant was launched by the University of Wisconsin to employ over 3.2 million nurses (Linda et al.,2016). This is an initiative I would emulate. However, my ambition would be a small scale as I would focus on the institution where I work.
Moving forward, I think meaningful collaborations will be needed to create a sustainable future for the nursing force. The allies of the nursing industry, e.g. World Health Organization and various governments, will need to be more aggressive in being on the forefront to ensure proper steps, media campaigns, commercials, and recruitment videos and sites to create awareness grow the nursing industry further. In this digital revolution, it is smart to take advantage of the myriad of social platforms to have these discussions. In 2002, Johnson& Johnson set the stage by coming up with a campaign to advocate for the nursing future by promoting nursing careers and polishing the job (Karen et al., 2005).
