To the Program Director /Admissions Committee:
It is with great pleasure, that I am writing to endorse XXX ‘s application for the Residency Program in the coming match year. I worked with him in the emergency room as his attending during his 4th year, 4 weeks Elective Program. XXX has an appetite for attaining knowledge which is key to the profession and also takes the initiative to learn through the various experiences at the clinic. I am very confident that he will excel in the program.
Over the years, I have mentored several medical students but very few like XXX warrant my praise and attention for his outstanding performance. XXX possesses strong work ethics which was evident in his clinical assignments. He would often put in extra hours to complete his assignments and prepare for the following day’s engagement. He also had very good communication skills and this enabled him to build professional relationships with fellow interns, patients, and other medical colleagues. XXX possesses exceptional interpersonal skills which I believe will be invaluable to the program and his career development as a doctor.
During his internship, I was particularly thrilled with his drive to learn that made him get the best from available opportunities to enable him to enhance his perspective and competencies. I enjoyed going over cases with him because he showed genuine enthusiasm when it came to acquiring knowledge. He was always willing to go the extra mile with his research and return it to me for discussion. XXX excelled in practice-based learning and he quickly learned how to adapt to urgent situations and work autonomously.
XXX is passionate and always aiming to make a difference in his environment. With the Corona Virus outbreak, he has been on the front line actively volunteering to help at the hospital for 4 months despite the lapse of the elective rotation. I appreciate his selflessness and dedication even though he is putting his life at risk for the greater good. These are some of the important things I believe that a good doctor should have when building their reputation. He has been helping to assist my staff with various roles such as performing physical examinations, interviewing patients, assisting in minor surgeries, ordering appropriate labs and image studies, reviewing charts, and educating patients about their diagnosis and advice on the precautionary measures to be taken.
I am confident that XX has what it takes to prosper as a medical practitioner. He will certainly bring all of these qualities to the residency program which will also boost his competencies. I emphatically recommend adding him to your ranks. He has a good clinical acumen, patient interaction, and a good understanding of the world in general, but I believe he will always be expanding that knowledge. I hope that he gets to do so through your residency program. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have to need further information.
Sincerely,
