Topic and Statement

1. The title of your thesis: (The title of the paper.)
   “Reconstruction Era”
2. The Thesis Question: (What question will your paper answer?)
   What happened during the Reconstruction Era?
3. The Approach you intend to take: (Basically, what do you think your argument will be? This is based on the facts/evidence from your research.)
   The paper is intended to demonstrate what transpired during the Reconstruction Era. Reconstruction era you are in fact, referring to the point immediately after the Civil War and the Reconstruction of the Confederate states be to their rightful place in the union. And Reconstruction in this sense means exactly that, the Reconstruction of those southern states new State Governments had to be formed; citizens add to swear allegation to the Federal government. Military governments were initially established to handle law enforcement and the day to day functions of government. The South’s economy was in shambles, and there was the issue of freed slaves. There were many things of this sort that we all that for granted that were no longer functioning.
4. What do you anticipate your Thesis Statement will be? (One sentence that sums up your argument based on the facts/evidence from the research. (In short: What do you think you’ll find?))
   The Reconstruction Era is the period of time lasting from the end of the Civil war in 1865 to 1877. It refers to the rebuilding of the South, how freed slaves were treated and even the rise of the Klu Klux Klan. Reconstruction came to an end as a direct result of too many Southerners opposing the Union’s plan for it. To them, the reconstruction ideas of the Northerners did not seem fair, and many felt the reconstruction plans were designed to punish them. When the North’s efforts were met with such great hostility, the Northerners determination to reconstruct the South began to wane because they did not want to be met with opposition constantly.

Example: The paper will show that Washington was outmanned, outgunned and outfought, winning only three battles during the entire war. The evidence will show his real strength was his dogged persistence in the quest to win the War for Independence.

4. What do you anticipate your Thesis Statement will be? (One sentence that sums up your argument based on the facts/evidence from the research. (In short: What do you think you’ll find?)) Example: “It was Washington’s persistence that enabled the US to win the War for Independence.” (This statement normally appears in the introduction but must appear in the conclusion of the paper.)
