The transformation due to the COVID-19 pandemic
The transformation due to the COVID-19 pandemic has left many students and teachers uncomfortable. Hence, being forced to work in an online environment, facing different challenges may have other implications on the learning process. Many of the students may lack the necessary materials and resources essential to working from home. For Example, a reliable internet connection, computer, or even a conducive working space may be expensive for many students.
Many students have resorted to finding ways to adapt to the new circumstances, such as asking help from family and friends to facilitate such resources. Also, students are taking on more responsibilities to earn some income to support the extra costs.
I have asked for family and friends to help make the transition smooth. On assisting others in adjusting to change, I prepare people by providing training to create a smooth transition. Also, by alerting people in time on the likely changes, they can prepare mentally. By doing so, I make them aware of the potential changes; therefore, they can make the necessary adjustments.
Also, during the transition process, it is essential to create a supportive environment where people can share their experiences on how they are coping. By doing so, they can reduce the personal pressure that they may encounter. In the time of change, it is crucial to communicate between agents and the management frequently. One way to do so is by helping the agents formulate a clear mental picture of the progress on the changes made and how they fit in the whole equation. Also, the agents can support the entire transition with idea sharing and implementation. They can increase the level of support, thus helping the change take place without disturbance.
