Just like other species, humans are going to collapse when the sixth mass extinctions occur. Notably, a lot of people are not talking the warnings about climate change seriously and assume that humanity has a lot of time to prepare. However, that is not the case since humans have built their economy on “fossilized capitalism.” Some of these effects will be hard to reverse in a short period of time such as high concentrations of “CO2” in the atmosphere, loss of soil life and terrestrial species (Specktor, 2019). Additionally, due to a decline in resources, competition among different species for these resources will accelerate mass extinction. The unwillingness by governments to “decarbonize the economy” is contributing to the rise in global temperatures that is eroding the world’s ice sheet (Specktor, 2019). At this point, humanity should not be debating whether they will become extinct but rather debate on when the mass extinction will occur. The catastrophic picture of how the future of earth looks like can only be prevented if humanity accepts that climate change is a biggest threat of humanity and start taking actions immediately.
In summary, earth is undergoing the “sixth mass extinction” due to the effects of climate change caused by human activities. The effects have negatively impacted resources which has resulted to loss of biodiversity. Scientists predict that humanity will exhaust every resource in the next 50 years which will lead to mass extinction. Human beings will be extinct since they are not equipped to handle ecological disruptions. The numerous studies and predictions by scientists are true and humans have already started experiences some of these predictions such as high atmospheric temperatures. The “sixth mass extinction” will not spare humans because humanity is ignoring all these warnings and it will be too late when they decide to start taking actions. If humans start acting now, some of these predictions by scientists can be prevented or slowed down
