The organizations are prone to many disasters such as viruses, fire, cybercrimes, and hacking of information system. This has made it almost mandatory for every organization to have a disaster recovery plan. DRP is used during the disaster incidences that will enhance the organization to recover without really feeling the impact. Some of the disasters are caused by technology that is spreading very fast (Rebah, & Sta, 2016). in an organization, the most occurring are cybercrimes, hacking and human-made errors. Therefore the DRP is facilitated by the IT department in an organization as it is swift in responding to such technological threats that may cause disaster.

disaster is referred to as an event or situation that may hit disruption to the operations of an organization’s business. DRP is a plan that has been documented; it has the actions that should be implemented after a disaster occurs to ensure the company continues and usually operates when attacked, hacked, or interfered with. Disasters may result from fire, floods, cybercrimes, terrorism, hardware failure, and human-made errors affect the business and its operations. These may lead to companies losing data and incur expenses while trying to deal with the disaster (Stokoe, Hanley, & House, 2020). Some of the disasters can force for close down as it will be drained. Therefore, a company must have a data recovery plan, and even methods and ways of avoiding or reducing the disasters. Useful DRP must-have tools, policies, and necessary procedures that will enhance the recovery of data. DRP is emphasized on the network, servers, telephone systems, the storage of data and the backup systems, database, software, hardware, documentation process, and the data output.

There are many objectives of DRP that will enhance efficiency in the recovery plan. One of the purposes of the DRP is to reduce the impacts of loss by healing from a disaster within the timeframe. It assesses the damage and makes an activation after the recovery (Lozupone, 2017). Another goal of the DRP maximally manages the recovery process as planned; with the available resources and equipment. Adequate preparation of the disaster response team and the recovery of data that is essential for operations.

DRP roles and responsibilities are consigned on specific people. The assigning of roles give absurdity on effectiveness and productivity to the employees as they already know what they are expected to do. An organization chores people to manage the DRP, providing peace and settled mind to other employees as they are assured of security (Lozupone, 2017). This is also actualized by ensuring that roles and responsibility are tasked to more than one person so that organization will not experiences hiccups or shortages in case of sickness, absenteeism or the employee resigns from the organization.

More research is embarked on by the organization to learn how to deal with various disasters before it strikes. The organization also can compare on the best methods and possibilities to switch as a way of mitigating the challenges. Technology innovations help the organization reveal the best metric that can be used as a strategy in DRP and the profit-making of the business after the disaster.
Another importance of DRP is that it is crucial in helping retain customers. The reputation and integrity of a business are to key attracting and retaining the customers. The reputation can be ruined by downtime. The organization purposes of meeting the needs and demands of the customers (El-Temtamy, Majdalawieh, & Pumphrey, 2016). One of the customers need security and protection of their data and assets by the organization losing a customer or a customer or a client from the insecurities, or the disaster may be hard to get them back. The reduction of risks and downtime in the organization gives an assurance to the customers that they can still access the services and retain them.

S., & House, 2020). This team also manages the communication about the disaster to the organization, employees, stakeholders, suppliers, media, and bank.

A comprehensive incident plan will enable mitigation of the risks and many disasters that are expected. The preparations are made prior for any possibility of the disasters. The incident plan is facilitated by an expert to ensure that all steps and procedures are included, and none is left out. The experts are also expected to know the source of the disaster. This is vital as it will help them avoid the disaster in future, make corrections, and update the plan to enable recovery in future (Jorrigala, 2017). Here the program can be training the employees to avoid the mistakes in future that may cost the company. Another incident is updating the systems and antiviruses to ensure that the attack from the cyber does not penetrate.

In conclusion, a team is needed in an organization for DRP for identification of the risk, threats, and possible disasters. The team is in charge of assessing the situation and implementing the best methods and procedures to avoid and deal with the disaster. The resources and equipment needed by the team should be provided and made available in case of an emergency (Rebah, & Sta, 2016). DRP should be tested, maintained, and updated often as disasters keep on changing with time and also to improve on the plans and also include the procedures of dealing with the emerging threats. Some of the disasters can be avoided by offering training to employees and keeping database and information systems up to date.
