The Current Nature of Riots
Over the past years, the struggle against police brutality has been focused Marjory on the black race. Cases of black individuals being beaten and killed have triggered a lot of riots in the streets of US cities. These riots have bred some similarities common and known to everyone who replays the recorded clips. However, in this article, something about the nature of the riots has been spotted and brought to light. The riot discussed in this article is amazingly different from the previous riots. The riots in Los Angeles depict a new wave of unity which could be a sign of the end of racism in the United States.
The first distinct difference about the riots in Los Angeles is that not everyone was driven out to the streets because of the current incident, but because they recalled the previous incidents, precisely the incident of 1992. Additionally, previously, riots that advocated against the violation of African American’s rights majorly involved black people going to the streets to fight for their rights. Moreover, people and riots mostly happened in black neighbourhoods. That is not the case this time. The Los Angeles riots involved people from many individuals. Interestingly, the areas recorded as the most chaotic were the white’s wealthy communities like Beverly Hills.
Also, the response to police brutality is significantly multicultural. Not only African American’s showed for the riots but also the people of white colour showed to riot against police brutality. The protestors came from different backgrounds. Most importantly, the riots in Los Angeles depicted a change in people’s perceptions. Many individuals are kicking the racist ideologies of their minds.
