The budget process at the state level
Most states in the United States have similar processes of making the budget conducted within the executive branch in the government. At the state level, the budget processes are begun in the month of July or August whereby the agencies present various requests at the budget offices (Jain, 2018). At this point, the priorities of the governor must be considered for the process to continue. The objectives and targets of the budget are established then a detailed budget developed in the month of January or February. After revision by the budget committee, the budget is then approved after a six month period of preparation. The governor has to sign the budget proposal for it to be passed as a law at the final point.
Tenth Amendment
According to the Tenth Amendment, any powers not defined in the constitution lies in the state government or the people. In Federalism, the central authority divides the political powers to the states. Therefore, the Tenth Amendment in the constitution promotes the idea of federalism whereby the states are responsible for any undefined legal decisions.
Methods for obtaining Judges
Judges can be selected through elections or appointments based on merit. Most states however select judges through appointment known as merit selection by the Judicial Service Commission. In the Election method, the judges hold campaigns democratically where people choose their candidates.
