Before Dubai become one of the famous glittering metropolitan cities of today’s time. Dubai was once a humble fishing center of the village borders by the great dunes. Tales in the book are to be accompanied by introspective portraits of citizens of Dubai who share their past decade story told by their father, and their father told them. The book also provides information on the people’s living there; with the help of those people, the author gets more information from the story told by them and linking them with the statues, monument present in today’s time. Big BBC Gulf Correspondent Julia wheeler is granted the unique of the privilege to talk about the Dubai foundation of the city and the citizens about how people leave their life in the past mesmerizing emirate. This collection of stories provides a rare insight into the city that has been undergone once. Now it is one of the most dramatic metamorphoses in modern history. The book also mentions that Dubai was also part of the British Empire until 1971 (Wheeler & Thuysbaert, 2005). This book deals with the past deeply rooted culture of Dubai is the Islamic tradition as it was the shape of the lifestyle in the past of Dubai. The book also discusses past language, which was Arabic. There was also a known language due to the rule of the British Empire known as English. People during that time face many difficulties due to language like the British Empire. It is also mentioned in the book is about the British Empire that they forced the people living in the past to learn English. This book also tells about the past fearless battles and the great heroes of Dubai; the author explains how they made Dubai free and discuss the monument which was built during that time.
