Stages of Life Essay and Interview

Life involves different stages and is a continuing process consisting of childhood, middle age, and adulthood. Life is therefore a collective process resulting from the various changes progressively taking place in the lives of individuals. It is vital to note there are differences between normal changes caused by the typical aging process and pathological changes from illnesses. These changes are not part of the normal aging process and require a medical expert to diagnose the problem. Older adults and younger people depict different symptoms in the aging processes and an individual who is 40 years may look physically older than 50 years old. Learning about this state of life experiences is vital and I interviewed my friend Wendy to comprehend her experiences with the health care system throughout her stages in life.

Do you feel that your stage of life had any effect on your interaction with healthcare professionals?

Wendy is a 43-year-old lady employed as a customer service agent at a local bank. Her state if life is adulthood (19-65) years. When I asked whether her stage of life affects her interaction with healthcare, she replied that yes, her stage of life affects her interaction with healthcare. As one gets older, they require more healthcare services since their health is deteriorating quicker compared to the younger generation. It is recommended that people engage in physical exercises from a young age to improve their health. Wendy claims that the first question she is asked in healthcare institutions is whether she participates in physical exercises. She concluded that people in her stage of life spend more if they live a sedentary lifestyle.

Which areas of the hospital or clinic were most concerned with your wellbeing and feelings?

One department that was concerned with her wellbeing was the gastroenterology. This department of the hospital investigates upper and lower gastrointestinal diseases. People over 40 tend to suffer from such chronic diseases caused mainly by age. She however tested okay and was advised to stay active to avoid contracting such diseases. Another section of the hospital concerned for her wellbeing was the gynecology department. Wendy was screened for any possible problems associated with the female urinary tract as well as the reproductive organs. Her diagnosis included questions like previous pregnancies since such procedures can lead to the infection of female reproductive organs.

Was Your Family With You During This Hospital Stay Or Outpatient Visit?

No, my family was not with me during the hospital stay. The reason why I did not want to involve my family is that I learned that I do not have any serious condition. Therefore, there was no need to involve them but if there would have been any serious condition, I would have involved them.

Was Your Family Included In Your Treatment, Such As Post Or Procedure Instructions?

My family was not included in the treatment since they did not know that I am in the hospital. Wendy stated that she chose not to involve her family because she did not have any serious disease. In regards to the procedure instructions, her physician informed her of the requirements, and everything was done professionally.

Conclusion

To conclude, Wendy was in the adulthood stage of life and requires constant medical observations. As evidenced above, patients need to comprehend the normal changes that occur in their bodies since there are changes that are caused by diseases. The older that a person is the more symptoms they will show depending on the changes in their body. It is recommended that as people age, they engage in physical exercises since this keeps their body young and respond to treatment quicker. All in all, the different stages in life cause different symptoms in people hence why experiences with the healthcare system are essential.
