Social statuses
Status sets can be mentioned as the collection of social statuses that an individual can hold. In modern society, each and every person is obliged to hold one or several status sets. It also happens that for every status set that one has, there are roles and responsibility that comes with it, these different roles make human complex beings.
For me, I at least hold four statuses in life currently. First of all, I am a student, and a student status comes along with the whole heap of roles, for example, it is my role to complete and submit all the assigned work on time, also, it is my role to do my best to ensure I good grades. Secondly, I am a part-time worker at a neighboring store where I work as a receptionist. As a receptionist, I am required to attend to customers and do proper referrals to their inquiries, also it is my duty to book meetings and arrange couriers. The other status I hold is that I am a roommate, due to this, it is my role to share expenses for things like rent, food, and furniture, and also, it is my role to accomplish household duties assigned to me. Lastly, I am a son and my parents expect me to be home every weekend so that I can help with the farm and some house chores. Below is a simple diagram that illustrates the above-mentioned statuses.
However, it is not always simple to achieve all these roles as desires considering that they are too much. Sometimes I find myself stuck in the role strains, for example, my roommate has been doing all the household duties on weekdays, and this has made me skip my weekend visits at home so that I can compensate him or rather return the favor. The other status role that most conflicts are the school work and the reception work, sometimes I find that I am late to submit my assignments because I was busy at work but fortunately we have understanding lectures that allows us some extensions in cases like these.
