Social Movements
In the contemporary global world, transnational right-wing movements are being experienced in most countries. In most states, equality and women rights are one of the most common topics which are being addressed daily. Various associations are being established to put across countermeasures that will assist in combating the issue of gender balance equality. At a particular time, women have been through such topics as social and even lacking a voice. According to (Williams 1), as reported by the guardian news article, ‘‘as a cause matures, it gets to the point where everyone recognizes that their individual view no longer matters.” This was the theme of gender justice movement, which was done in London by women. In most cases, they reach a point where they feel like being left out in-country matters.
The transnational wing movement through corporation with the UN is expected to make a lot of changes in the future regarding the rights of women in society. Various organizations are expected to be formed so that the public is well informed about the importance of equality. The United States has shown efforts of addressing were multiple movements such as Christian Right Leaders have collaborated with the UN, enacting laws which enhance inclusivity and equality among the citizens (Staggenborg pg. 165). This has been experienced through the increased representation of women in political positions, an increase in girls in educational facilities, among others. The future is hence expected to be great for most women because their rights are being given priority in the judicial system. Similarly, every government is putting the rights of women as their significant priority and ensuring an equity country. Gender violence is expected to be reduced over time.
There are certain women’s group who are taking led in social media, where they intend to support female political candidates financially and also having an effort to shaping the public policy (Staggenborg pg. 154). In contemporary society, various media has been used by politicians and the voters in passing and getting news from political candidates, respectively. To be in a position if giving such relevant information, women movements have worked for hand in hand to ensure that female candidates get enough finances to persuade a broad audience of media data.
The polarization that is done through media is positively impacting on democracy. Through media, the voters can determine the right candidate who is suitable for a particular position. Also, this is making the voters select their leaders without any form of influence from an outside source. This is becoming a strategy because it brings equity in competition, where politicians can reach a broad audience without necessarily moving around to persuade them. It is being driven by most of the political activists to be able to reduce the amount that politicians are spending on campaigning through physical movement.
One of the current day’sday’s social movements was protests against racial inequalities, after the killing of George Floyd by the police officer. After looking at the news stories both from FOX and CNN, I found out that FOX provides a further precise description that can help a reader understand easily as compared to CNN which only provides the headline. From the news headline of FOX, ‘‘Minnesota National Guard activated after George Floyd ex-cop released, demonstrators gather in Minneapolis. (Casiano 1).‘ ‘ Looking it highlights everything that took place. On the other hand, CNN addressed the same issues as follows; ‘‘Former officer charged in George Floyd’sFloyd’s death allowed to leave Minnesota (Parks and Waldrop 1).’‘ It does not provide the whole context as to what happened.
The news media literacy indicates that FOX and CNN have a different way in which they present their news to the target audience PBS NewsHour min. 5. This helps to explain how each of the news media strategizes its activities to make sure that the target audience is satisfied and happy when watching the news.
