Rhetorical moves, patterns, and appeals
The writer developed various rhetoric moves; all meant to develop the plot and support the arguments. Some of the rhetoric used is meant to wind down a discussion or point, allowing the reader to further think of the points. In the first chapter, the author establishes these rhetoric moves, making the reader more interested in the book and exploring it. For Example, the rhetorical question ‘what has become of the thing all for the sweet sake of which it was to proceed to that extremity?’ Also, ‘How many books do we read which the writer lacked the courage to tie off the umbilical cord? ‘the rhetoric comes after the writer emphasizes the need to remind yourself what the inspiration for writing was, the difficulty in writing what should be disposed or kept. Thus, the writer can either proceed to an extremity or go back to reality. Hence, the rhetoric is supposed to help the reader choose whether to continue in the path chosen and have the courage to start writing. The courage needed to spice up the work and fashion it in various forms is insisted in the first chapter.
