Since the Covid 19 pandemic coming, many all the departments in all the countries were interrupted. The normal running programs for all the activities that were carried out were interrupted in dealing with the pandemic since the numbers are increasing now and then. The criminal justice and policing department, a sensitive government department that deals with keeping the harmful personnel from the general public, was greatly affected by this pandemic. Some of those who have been held in custody are infected by the virus, which stands at a risk of affecting others arrested individuals. Therefore, the NYPD does not have the authority to bring coughing citizens to hospitals without the others’ consent. Since the pandemic is a tough issue that has taken the lives of many lately, there is a need for protection for all the citizens, including the criminals. In the alternative, the New York Police Department should organize other effective means such as having specific health centers whereby those who may have the virus symptoms are taken for further check up.
