Question One
When interacting for the first time, it is essential to maintain eye contact, smile and show concern. Also, when reacting to someone else’s experiences, especially on sensitive occasions, it is crucial to consider remaining sensitive to what the other person is saying and their needs. Showing empathy and not being hyper-reactive but sensitive.
I will be hospitable and enquire where changes need to be made. Also, l will be open to their concerns and provide a means of airing out some of the issues they experience intending to improve their experiences. Also, in an attempt to make them feel safe, I can device an emergency contact who can be available any hour of the day or night in case of any eventualities.
During sensitive trauma reactiveness safety protocol, it is essential to conduct screening and assessment of all the individuals. Any history of trauma may require further attention as the individuals may be more affected than the others. Screening of the trauma immediately after an incidence helps the individuals seek additional help where needed.
I anticipate my campers to have various concerns, such as their safety and other protocols that have been established. Also, the number of campers available and the experience that l have to make me as effective in service delivery. Furthermore, the campers should be comfortable with their environment as well as the people they are interacting with. Therefore, my primary concern is in the number of campers and my capacity when handling the campers. Therefore, if the maximum capacity is attained when dealing with the campers, there is a need to stop taking more. Hence, increasing the comfort of the numbers that are available and offering more hospitable services.
On the steps, I will take to make my campers feel safe is offering a hospitable experience and staying clear of the purpose. Reminding myself of the intention of the actions and how my brain reacts to specific events will slow down the emotions, helping me to cope.
Understanding my survival brain and how it thinks of others while at pressure will help in mitigating the resultant effects. Before getting to the alarm stage, it is essential to slow things down and think. The safety protocol in a person’s mind is activated by activating the survival brain. Thinking of people as being evil and how they can never change may further reinforce the negative feelings. Nonetheless, creating the feel of the purpose in life sets things back to normal. Thinking of the life that I want to have, the most important people in my life and why they are significant. Hence, taking the brain back to the things that matter reduces the trauma leading to a form of calmness. The feeling of having to live each moment, focusing on the purpose and values l uphold in life makes me make the correct decision. I focus on my goals and try to understand what the other persons are trying to say. Finally, I ask myself what the exact feeling l have—the vulnerabilities that l have and why l can’t share the vulnerabilities. Hence, l can dig deep and find a solution to the exact feelings that I am having.
Question Two
According to the TED talk, the importance of play by John Cohn, having a playful spirit in the workplace and life leads to productivity. Hence, doing activities in a playful manner does not lead to tiredness of the feeling of being overwhelmed; instead, one is excited for yet another task. Discoveries in the world are as a result of the playfulness of individuals. Even at the saddest moments in life, it is important to be playful with instruments to create new things in life. John Cohn, says the invention in science, movies, engineering, art and even music is as a result of the playfulness of individuals. John Cohn terms himself as an engineer who is in love with his work; he is technical and acknowledges the accomplishments in his work being as a result of their playfulness. Most of the projects in making objects and things came out of their playfulness. The warning signs like ‘don’t try this at home’ makes individuals especially children more enticed to try the activities. Hence, leading to creativeness and experimentations.
I agree with the writer that in most fields, an invention comes with the experimentation of things and activities. Example, in fields such as art, music, architecture, engineering, art and the like require a lot of playfulness. Even if fields like law and combat, playfulness apply no matter the seriousness that the work requires. Example, in helping a client with the case, a lawyer may have to be imaginative and experimentative in choosing the different angles of defence. Thus, the usefulness of playfulness in the field. In another instance, in combat, there is a need to be creative in the ways to tackle the enemy. Most of the combat strategies were invented out of the playfulness of the souldiers. In the campers, l would devise games that can challenge the cognitive development of the campers to enhance creativity. I would spare a few hours per day for storytelling, mini-golfing, moulding, knitting, playing of instruments or singing. Thus, different individuals can exploit their creative self and build themselves to tackle the challenges in life.
