Qualitative methods
My testing agency
My testing agency, in this case, is Harris County Public Hospital. This project aims to determine the number of infected persons and factors contributing to the rapid spread and infections of Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Sexually Transmitted Diseases by the use of qualitative methods. This program’s data will be mainly used to develop strategies to minimize the spread of such diseases. The use of qualitative methods in this project is helpful since social behavior and phenomena will be clearly described via rich contextual data approaches. Since qualitative research is an action approach, the two qualitative methods to be used is interview and observation.
Collecting data using qualitative may be tiresome and time-consuming; therefore, to avoid this, individuals responsible for data collection will be organized into two groups to carry specific duties. One group will be responsible for interviewing selected persons while the other will take part in observation processes to determine the daily number of people attending testing centers. Another strategy to be used in data collection is determining which group to focus on to get reliable data. I believe focus group interviews will save time, as many people will be interviewed at a time.
Often, qualitative research results in many pages of field notes, texts, and transcripts. To analyze the collected data, we will interrogate it for themes using grounded theory -inductive analytical approach. This data analysis approach involves the creation of themes or categories and subthemes/ subcategories directly from the data.
