Peer Response/AW
Being an individual who has always set eyes on leadership, I have been inspired by the step taken by AW towards attaining DSL. I have done a lot of background checks on the program, and I think that will be my next step too. As pointed out, indeed, the DSL course can be helpful in day-to-day life activities, and the phrase “when you fail to plan, you plan to fail” is much more applicable in the program. Through my background check, I have learned that the DSL program can enhance one’s leadership career through increasing abilities to develop practical management solutions for their business operations. That makes DSL applicable in applied research project since it entails the analysis used to find solutions to everyday problems, undertaken to acquire novel knowledge as noted by AW (De Mello & Pedroso, 2018).
I am also happy for the continued reference of bible quotes used. It shows the appreciation that leadership roots can be traced to biblical times. It is important noting that some leaders and quotes exemplified in the Bible are practical examples that will enhance one’s knowledge and understanding of strategic leadership in their daily lives. While consideration of leadership values and success as you move forward with DSL can by essential, it will also be significant to consider doing more on leadership styles (Northouse, 2018). Understanding leadership styles helps one be familiar with the type of approach to take to leadership, helping them to advance their career, increase their success, and that of the team they are leading.
Peer Response/Ms
The MS’s interest in career areas revolving around the effects of leadership for the Applied Research Project is amazing. Besides leadership being a skill that spans across many applications and industries, I also have great interests in this area because ever since I was young, my close friends have regarded me as a leader, so I have always wanted to explore more on what it is like to be a good leader. The areas of interest pointed out, specifically authentic leadership and emotional intelligence are all important, and it is crucial to do more research in them concerning their impacts on organizational performance. However, I also found emergent leadership of great significance when it comes to organizational performance, and it will be essential to research it.
As it is pointed out that leaders are required to be cognizant of their followers’ perspectives to utterly comprehend the best approach to implement to attain optimal performance, it is worth noting that emergent leadership skills are crucial for attaining this objective. With emergent leadership skills, leaders are taught to exert substantial supportiveness and influence among their followers, especially when they anticipate change (Northouse, 2018). This includes acting as role models to the group members by exhibiting high morals, which can earn them respect and admiration from their followers. Generally, a combination of authentic, emotional, and emergent leadership is more likely to yield genuine leaders that are truly vested in the success of those they lead. And that for sure will show that leading teammates is indeed an honor and privilege.
