Paula Wallace
Paula Wallace currently serves as the co-founder and president of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), a non-profit degree-granting university with more than 40 areas of study. She founded SCAD in 1978 intending to create a purposeful curriculum that is compatible with the current career demand. Under the leadership of Paula Wallace, SCAD has championed public driven programmes such as deFINE Art, SCADsytle, aTVEST, and Savannah Film Festival. Moreover, Paula Wallace has fuelled University growth to SCAD Hong Kong, SCAD Atlanta, Lacoste, and SCAD e-learning.
Before founding SCAD, Wallace served as a school teacher at an Atlanta public school. Apart from his role as a teacher, Paula also served as a nurse, curriculum developer, public speaker, ringleader, external relations master, and as an educator.
Paula’s initial intention before founding SCAD was to expand the organization to several campuses and increase the number of programmes. Today, SCAD has over four international campuses and over 100-degree programs. Moreover, students at SCAD are recruited at an international organization such as BMW, Apple, Samsung, Pixar, and Google. According to a recent interview with Paula Wallace, 99% of SCAD alumni are employed. She adds that SCAD’s curriculum prepares students or their professions as statistics indicate.
Paula has partnered with an international organization for collaborative projects with students. Such organizations include Microsoft, Coca-cola, and NASA. Additionally, Paula heads the SCAD Museum of Art which have won several international recognitions. For instance, SCAD Museums won top honours from the International Interior Design Association.
Wallace attended Georgia State University and earned her Master’s in Education and Bachelor of Education Science. Moreover, she is a family woman with a husband and four children. Furthermore, she is an author of children’s book and interior design books. Apart from his role at SCAD, Paula Wallace contributes to the community through charitable organizations and community development projects.
