nursing
During my entire studies, nursing came first as a career. I felt the need to make a difference in people’s lives; hence nursing was my first option career. However, each profession is essential in studies. It all depends on the passion one has towards that career. In my case, nursing as a career is part of my dream career because of various reasons.
First, nursing as a career enables one to make a real difference by helping people in need. Nursing is all about patients. As a career, it will help me save lives, bring happiness to people and their families, and comforts those in distress. From midwifery, mental health, and aged care to rehabilitation, there are many areas where a nurse can positively impact society.
Second, nursing as a career will enable me to experience the benefits of a holistic approach to medicine. On an exciting aspect, I enjoy the holistic approach of nursing care. According to Kara Sonora, in nursing, we are taught not to focus on the specific states of disease but rather focus on the patient’s response to the illness or disease. Kara explains that the most effective method of patient care does not include meeting them physically but meeting patients’ social, emotional, and spiritual needs. Using a holistic approach to medical care enables nurses to cure ‘the whole person’ while also benefiting the nurse themselves, often preventing professional burnout among the medical team.
Also, nursing as a career will allow me to impact my community and patients positively. I want to become a nurse to help people through some of their most vulnerable moments. Creating social cohesion between my patient is what I enjoy the most. Since I was a small kid, my empathetic heart took over. When I witnessed a friend cry, I was the first person to comfort him or her.
Besides, nursing as a career is in high demand. Thanks to a growing population and the National Disability Insurance Scheme introduced that increases the rate of nursing opportunities. While growing as a toddler, I dreamt of a passionate nursing career that provides a range of fields from midwives to disabled care.
Ever since I developed a nursing passion, I have become a lifelong learner to reach my dream job goal. With new technologies and treatment, the healthcare field is evolving at a high rate. Working as a nurse requires one to stay informed and educated to remain effective as their responsibilities change. I have taken continuing education courses as required by my nursing career. I have earned several certificates in nursing, which gives me confidence in working as a nurse. Currently, I am pursuing a degree in nursing. After my degree, I intend to obtain a nursing license then obtain employment to improve my working experience as a nurse.
For others, being a nurse is a pragmatic decision. Seriously, nursing is just a path to take. It is always nice to help people, that’s a given. Besides, nursing as a career exposes you to the real world. While on a career path, you are privileged to meet and interact with people from all works of life. Ranging from your workmates to patients you attend to. If you like making new friends, for sure, nursing is an appropriate career to pursue.
