NSC-150 Evidence Based Practice Article Instructions (50 points)- Fall 2020
GED3C1: Demonstrate clarity and logic in asking relevant questions and acquiring knowledge
There is a plethora of information available to consumers via the internet and word of mouth. However, as a college-educated individual, students need to develop skills to differentiate questionable information from reliable information. This assignment will allow students the opportunity to design a relevant health and wellness question then search for reliable evidence to acquire new knowledge to answer the question. Students will then synthesize the information and summarize it. This information may be used in-part for preparation for the CLC presentation later in the semester.
Directions:
Write a 500-750-word paper following the guidelines below.
Part A: Design a relevant health and wellness question such as, but not limited to, “Is (a particular food) related to an increase (or decrease) in (a health-related measure such as blood pressure)?”, “Is a (particular nutrient) related to (cardiovascular) health”, or “Does (a specific exercise technique) lead to an increase in (back health)”. State your research question and explain why this question is relevant to you or others. Describe why this information is important and how it can be used to drive the acquisition of new knowledge.
Part B: Select a current empirical research article from a peer-reviewed scientific journal found in the GCU library that helps to answer your question. The article must be an empirical research article published within the past 5 years. Empirical research is based on observed or measured phenomenon and derives knowledge from actual experience. This means the researchers gathered data on subjects in a population through a specific methodology (methods section), described what was learned (results section which usually include statistics), and discussed those results (discussion section- may be called conclusions).
Write a summary of the article and discuss the implications of the information from a personal perspective and/or the perspective of public health and policy.
Be sure to include the following APA headings in your paper: introduction, subjects, methods, results, discussion, and personal implications. Only one citation is required and only one small quote is allowed. APA reference page required with associated permalink after the reference.
Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
You are required to submit this assignment to Lopewrite. Please refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.
