Newton’s Third Law
Concepts in Physics are employed to construct meaningful knowledge and understanding in different research areas in science and engineering. A study by Goren and Igal (2019) on Newton’s Law- A Theory of motion or force? describes the application of Newton’s laws to engineering aspects. The scholarly paper by the two authors is intriguing as it explores civil engineering procedures which take into account thrust that can be explained by Newton’s third law. The authors find that both the theoretical and computational understanding of the third law is applied in both static and dynamic state mechanics that are highly employed in civil engineering. According to Goren and Igal (2019) the knowledge of opposite but equal forces is applied in construction as explained in civil engineering hydraulics. The article summarized its findings by appreciating the basic knowledge of mass and momentum and the experimental impact of force-motion relationship amplified by the Newton’s third law of motion in civil engineering.
