New World
This discussion is about the new world is a common phrase used to refer to the transition, especially from childhood to adulthood. There is much that children can learn about the new world from books, the internet, elders, and movies. In this discussion, two movies, namely Peter Ban and Up, are used to explain more about the new world. Peter ban is an animation film produced by Disney production back in 1953. The film is based on the play Peter ban produced in 1904. The story is about the three children of the Darling family that are taken to the neverland, where is an ongoing war between Peter ban and the pirate captain ( A whole new world, 1). Up is also an animated American comedy that was produced by Pixar animation studios. The movie is about a widower (Carl) and a boy named Russel. Carl is determined to fulfill his dream of going to South Africa to see the wilds.
One thing that is clear from the film is gender roles. Both men and women have different roles in the society. When children grow up, they have to differentiate men and women’s roles. One role of the women is to look after the children (Murray, 70). In most cases, women sacrifice their jobs so that they can raise their children. According to the article, a whole new world, Mrs darling from Peter ban’s film, is devasted after her children fly away, but she does not give up on them. She even leaves the windows open, hoping her children will return. This is an indication that it is the responsibility of the women to look after their children and ensure they are safe. There is another lady from Peter bans named Wendy, who is a daughter to Mrs darling. Wendy is portrayed as a mother figure since she is responsible to the extend that peter thinks of her as a mother who will take care of him and the lost boys. The Up film, on the other hand, shows that men are supposed to provide for their families and love their wives. This is evident because Carl becomes introvert after his wife’s death, which is an indication that he used to love her more than anything else.
Additionally, there is much to learn about families from the two films. Family makes people feel secure and strong. Looking at the Up film, Carl’s family comprises two people, but there is a strong bond that makes it difficult for Carl to move on after his wife dies. In Peter ban, there is one family of Mr. and Mrs. Darling that show how secure it is to belong to a family. Despite their children being away, Wendy wants to take care of the lost boys, but she still misses her mother back at home. This is an indication that the family is essential when it comes to raising children. In most cases, a family with more than one kid, the smaller ones learn from their elder brothers and sisters (Carra 30). This is what is happening in Peter band when Wendy is looking after her two younger brothers and telling them stories.
There is another interesting fact about sexuality from the two films. Carl has been mourning for a while over the death of his wife. He does not consider replacing his wife with another person. This is an indication that the two had a strong intimate relationship. In Peter ban, there is Mr and Mars darling; they love each other to the extent that they decide to have children. Wendy, on the other hand, is starting to fall in love with Peter. The author is trying to communicate about sexuality by showing the fruits of two people who love each other.
The triangle of children, media, and worldview plays a significant role in the growth of children. Looking at the media, children can learn a lot from listening to radios and watching television. Currently, with the use of internet, things are better because of the different children programs that have been introduced. There are learning programs that teach children good morals, extracurricular activities, and academic work (Kirkorian, 212). Even though the world negatively views the media, there are good things that children can learn from there. According to the world, the media corrupts children’s minds and makes them lazy. This is true, but the parents have to be there to ensure the children use media platforms for their own benefits. This is a digital era, which implies that it is vital for children to learn how to use media and other social networks to enhance growth.
In conclusion, the ne world issue has been analysed in this discussion with reference from Peer ban and Up films. These are animated movies for children. Apart from entertaining, they also enhance children’s transformation into a new world. In other words, children will not remain to be young forever. They have to learn new things from time to time as they enter into adulthood. The new world is a world of responsibilities, and the children should be natured while still young.
