- Do you think Ming is correct in saying Mindy is bullying her? What are the indications of bullying?
Indeed, Ming is correct in saying that Mindy is bullying her. First, when Mindy tells other colleagues about the medications that Ming had in her cart, it is a form of bullying; Mindy is humiliating Ming, which is an act of bullying, (Legg & Raypole, 2019). Secondly, Mindy is bullying Ming by sending her emails, blaming her for causing the loss of Mindy’s client, and also copying the email to the entire department.
- What advice would you give to Ming?
I would advise Ming to concentrate on her work and avoid Mindy interactions since some people have a character of provoking others for their self-gain. Ming should make new friends that would believe her and help her escape Mindy’s provocations and bullying. If the situation persists, Ming should face Mindy and involve third parties that would help solve the issue.
- How would you handle this situation with Mindy, without embarrassing Ming?
I would ask Mindy to start focusing on her work and avoid creating situations affecting other employees. Also, I would remind Mindy that her actions would have dire consequences if they continue within or outside the working environment. I would not mention Ming while discussing the issue with Mindy. I would also request whether there are employees who have wronged her; if there are employees who have wronged Mindy, I would promise her that I will handle the situation personally.
- Should Ming have any safety concerns? Why or why not?
Ming should have safety concerns. Bullying in the workplace may affect Ming’s relationships with other colleagues and her work performance but may be associated with physical abuse from the bully. Mindy may bully Ming to the extent of causing physical effects and other health issues such as anxiety, stress, psychological impacts such as frustrations, increased anger, and inability to sleep (Gordon & Goldman, 2020).
- What types of health concerns could the Ming experience as a result of the stress caused by being bullied?
Ming could experience mental health effects such as stress, suicidal thoughts, low self-esteem, and self-doubt. Some physical health effects she could experience include trouble waking up or sleeping well, feeling sick before work, and having physical signs such as reduced appetite and headaches (Legg & Raypole, 2019).
