Demonstration Speech
Introduction
How many of us here have a piece of knowledge on how a simple, fresh lemonade drink is made? Well, I’m not pretty sure of the numbers, but at the end of this speech at least every one of us would be capable of preparing and enjoying a freshly home-made lemonade. A lemonade is simply a beverage entailing lemon juice and sweetened sugar prepared in syrup form by dissolving it in water (Titu et al. 2020). The primary purpose of my speech is to teach you on the criteria, and the simple steps followed when preparing a lemonade. The beverage is made from locally available materials which are affordable to every one of us, and the entire process is quite simple and convenient to apply as it employs less ambiguity in its whole explanation (Mason et al. 2018). Lemons from which lemonade is prepared from originated from China and India. The first sweetened lemon juice was, however, enjoyed in the ancient Far East in Egypt. The mixer of lemon juice and sugar was, however, referred to as qatarzimart by medieval Egyptians and was used for trading.
Ingredients
The various ingredients needed entail but are not limited to; one and half cups of sugar, eight cups of fresh and clean cold water and an average of seven lemons. The collected ingredients, however, depend on the number of individuals meant to be served with the entire lemonade drink (Titu et al. 2020). Additionally, the equipment which should be readily available for utilization includes the strainer, a measuring cup, a pitcher and a reamer which in most cases appears on an optional basis. Once ingredients and the necessary materials have been gathered, a series of steps are followed towards preparing the lemonade drink.
Steps Followed
The first step involves the preparation of simple sugar syrup. Pour the sugar and two cups of water into a saucepan and heat to boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat supplied and stir gently until all the sugar has completely dissolved (Titu et al. 2020). Cool the resulting sugar syrup to room temperature and refrigerate it as you prepare your lemons. Roll the lemons continuously to warm them and get the lemon juice flowing. Cut the lemons afterwards into halves. Place a strainer over the measuring cup while ensuring that the strainer perfectly fits on the measuring cup used. In my case, I prefer to use a 2-liquid measuring cup because an ordinary strainer fits perfectly over it. Now go forth and juice the lemons over the strainer while allowing the liquid to flow into the measuring cup. Continue the entire juicing process until you obtain a cupful of the fresh lemon juice. A minimum of eight lemons is required to prepare a well-saturated cup of lemon juice. The next step entails combining the lemon juice with the simple syrup prepared during the initial phase. Mix the entire sugar solution with the remaining six cups of cold water and add the freshly prepared lemon juice and mix well and enjoy your lemonade.
Conclusion
The lemonade taste can be enhanced by adding freshly prepared lemon slices or fresh strawberry. The lemonade can be shared with family and friends to cool the body on a hot afternoon. Either way, the lemonade preparation process is simple, and I hope that you will try preparing one now that most of us are spending most of the time indoors following the coronavirus restrictions.
