Question 1: Lessons from group 7
Group 7 has supported the limitation of diet to plant-based consumption only, and they have also supported their argument with credible sources. I have learned that limiting animal products decreases the rate of developing diseases. The group has also insisted on the need to include exercise and maintain a healthy weight to achieve good health. I have noted that it is scientifically proven that the rate of contracting cancer, heart diseases, and diabetes reduce when meat products are substituted with plant-based diets. The group has also identified plant-based products that can replace meat products such as taking beans instead of meat. They have also noted that body conditions such as chronic inflammation can be reduced or solved by cutting animal products like meat, eggs, and milk. However, the group has not answered whether a plant-based diet can supply the bod with all the necessary nutrients.
Question 2: Lesson from group 8
Group 8 supports the intake of both plant-based and animal-based products. They support their argument from credible sources, and they highlight the weaknesses in group 7’s argument that a plant-based diet can be sustainable. The group acknowledges that a plant-based diet reduces the rate of heart conditions, cancer, and diabetes. I have learned that there are shortcomings of not including animal products because the body lacks essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. Plants do not have sufficient amounts of creatine, which is vital for brain functioning. Vitamin B12 is found on animal products, and it is essential for strength. They have also highlighted that plant-based diets require taking supplements to cover the deficiencies in Vitamin B12, creatine, calcium, heme iron. It has also been highlighted that feeding on junks increases the rate of chronic diseases than the consumption of animal products. I have learned the need to balance my diet by including both plant-based products and animal-based products.
