George brings you on a thrilling, comical ride that hysterically dissects his upbringing in a Los Angeles Hispanic neighborhood. When Lopez reminds us of Mexican cultures and addresses taboo topics such as family relations, insecurity, and unique language, you will be swept along for the ride. This is a funny stand-up comedy that has educative content about the Latin people. This story is about how a normal child is raised in a Latin society, the story is told by George Lopez, a comedian.

He gives an insight into his personal life as a Latin. The story shows the difference between Latin and other cultures with how they raise their kids and operate in general. George starts by explaining that Mexicans don’t want to admit that they are old. As he recalls his grandma refusing to use a walking stick as she still wanted to appear sexy. He explains how he was being raised to be a hardcore kid, and the mother used to hit him. He tells how the mother once knocked him, and the first thing she did was ask what was wrong. Pretending like nothing had happened and even asking in amusement why he was crying. She later tries to bribe him by taking him to MacDonald’s if he walks normally, despite him being hurt. He then compares this with how the current generation doesn’t hit their kids, himself included.  Like for instance in the US where parents get arrested for beating up their kids. In Latin homes, however, the mothers get to discipline their kids. The kids in Latin homes were not allowed to have somethings like birthday parties. Talking back to parents was also not allowed as that could have resulted in a beating. So they just used to mumble to themselves in anger after being hit or scuffled.

In Latin family set-ups, domestic animals were not given much of preferential treatment. Like in the event of them getting sick, they would just be dumped to other neighborhoods, far from their homes. They never took animals to Vet nary doctors when they got sick. The Latinos are also superstitious as they believe their houses have a haunted room. This explains whys they are always afraid of the darkness at night. Their greetings are unique as they use different gestures depending on the person and the distance a person is from. People with special needs in Latin are treated differently. They are even hidden from the public, unlike other societies like the US which are very considerate and are proud of their kids irrespective of their conditions.

Latinos are very different from other races when it comes to warning people. In the event, a person is about for instance to hit something, in other places someone can rush in front of the car to try and stop the driver from being involved in the accident. However in Latin societies, people will just wait and look at the person until they get involved in the accident, they will even signal their friends to look on as they anticipate for the accident. After the accident, they see an opportunity and offer to help by telling the victim that they know someone who can fix their vehicle. The way they get things is also different. In Mexico, people rarely go shopping for fruits in market places. The venders bring the fruits at their doorsteps and then blow horns to get their attention and ask them if they would like to buy them.

The boys in Latin societies are treated like princes. For this reason, boys rarely do anything. It’s the girls and women who are bombarded with duties. Boys grow up emotionally detached because now they get used to their mothers. This makes them have a don’t care type of attitude. They tend to be straight forward when it comes to love affairs and when they don’t get what they want, they never take it seriously, knowing at the back of their minds their mothers got them. They rarely confess their feelings to the people they love until they get drunk. That’s when they get emotional. In addition, Latinos love highlights, that’s why they dye their hairs and have peculiar hairstyles. With fancy and weird dressing in the sense of attracting attention. They are very proud of their food since it has a lot of benefits for the general wellbeing. This is a healthy mix of vegetables, protein and fat, and a balanced diet overall. Furthermore, all fibers found in Latin support digestion and have several other great advantages. Food is one of Latin America’s most proud cultural features. This is the reason most restaurants are owned by Latinos.

In conclusion, the story celebrates Latins’ cultures as George shows how Latin cultures are all about. Those interested in knowing about the Latin cultures and upbringing of kids in the past could benefit from this story. The current Latin people can also appreciate how far they have come from with their cultures. The story is also told in a very funny way that the viewers would enjoy.
