Introduction

Education is one of the keys to achieving success. A good education will make sure the basic needs of life are well taken care of. Without proper education, it is tough to make it in life. Around the world today, many children are suffering because there is no provision of education. And it is the reason why there is a widespread poverty index all over the world. This is the leading cause of child labor, low-income jobs, and the high unemployment rate. In addition to these, child trafficking has also been known as one of the results of a lack of Education Rueckert P. (10). There are a lot of recommendations on how to end illiteracy levels. These solutions include; Expanding access to early childhood education, providing support to teachers, and encouraging servings plans to cater to the children’s educational needs.

Lack of proper knowledge and limited access to education contribute to Rueckert, P. (10). There is high unemployment among people who are living in the new settlements of Bishkek. It is because most of the people are not educated. The majority of the accommodations are very unskilled, unemployed, and earn a low income.  When there is no proper education, the parents end up being poor, their attention shifts from their children. The parents will focus on other matters living their children less educated.  It is hard to find free public schools in most of the developing countries. The statistics from (Lack of Education today, 2011) shows that over 67 million middle-aged children have been denied the right to proper education. Gender is a factor that is also contributing to uneducated young girls today. Some Societies will prefer educating the boy child more than a girl child. But when the boys are allowed to learn, most of them drop out as they will have to repeat several classes. Among the 67 million children, the percentage of those who have not attended primary school is 53%. And among those, only 52% of the girls have attended lower secondary.  Half of the millions of children who are not in school, half of them are girls.

Thesis Statement

Lack of proper Education has caused poverty, unemployment, gender inequality, and exploitation.  IT has resulted in the low standards of living among people. There are comprehensive strategies that can be put in place to come up with a remedy for the problem.

In this paper, we will look at some of the strategies that can be put in place to solve the lack of education.  Some of the techniques that can be put in place to develop solutions to this problem are providing educational tools and increasing taxes to pay teachers and provide teachers’ support and training.

Lack of Education: Background Information

For many decades, the lack of education is one of the challenges that are still being faced by countries all over the world. Despite the recent improvements, there are still many things that need to be done to deal with this challenge. Many people worldwide are still suffering due to poor education—the article (Right to Education: Situation around the world n.d). Millions of people can even not access education.  IT can be because there cannot access schools; there are no proper investments in education. Statistics indicate that 72 million children who are supposed to be in primary school have not been enrolled in a school. Marginalization and inequality are two of the main fundamental factors that contribute to children not going to school. Infrastructural challenges also form part of the reason why schools are not available. Most developing countries are facing a lot of financial constraints.  A lot of money is needed to offer primary education. Many countries contribute to developing countries by providing financial resources to governments to support early childhood education. Adams, L. (2012). Most countries still do not appreciate the efforts made by developed countries in supporting education in these developed countries. A lot of money is usually needed to recruit teachers, provide school materials, and train qualified teachers. Lack of financial resources has not done the countries any good has. It affects the quality of education that will be offered. The majority of the classrooms in the developing countries are overflowing with students; teachers have been overstretched having to take care of many students, more than the expected ratio. IT is one of the contributing factors that is leading to increased class drop-outs. Lack of proper Education is majorly caused by a lack of enough teachers in the classrooms. Without adequate investment in the recruitment of teachers, we can see the cycle continues to repeat itself.  The funds needed by most countries to fund the education sector are not there (Lack of proper Education 2018).

A lot of discrimination have been reported in the education sector. Racism is based on sex, gender, and physical capabilities. Adams, L. (2012). Children may be discriminated against because they are different from others. For example, some cultures may prefer educating the boy child more than a girl child.  Children with disabilities may be left out, as it will be perceived that they may not need education anyway.

Systemic causes of Lack of Education

The challenges faced by lack of education affect a particular group of people, but these are challenges faced worldwide.

Poverty

Poverty is one of the reasons why people cannot access quality education. Some families are made up of single mothers. Hence they have limited finances to be able to send their children to school. In countries such as Egypt, they have come up with what is referred to as Conditions Cash Transfer (CCT). It is to ensure that single mothers take their children to school Adams L. (2012). CCT provides funds to poor mothers through cash transfer to afford primary education to their children.  Though Egypt offers free education for students up to the 12th grade, public education is very wanting. This is because of the poor remunerations that teachers are receiving. Though public schools are free, parents are still required to pay for the Study Groups of their children. Most governments have taken the root of creating free primary education for students. These have seen an increase in the number of children that are getting enrolled in these schools. For example, in Egypt, the enrollment rate increased from 64% in the 70s to 98% around 2014. Increase enrollments are leading to a decline in the quality of education that is being offered. Pritchett, L. (2004). This is because the countries are not addressing the Teacher-student ration, which is very important in making sure that the level of education being offered meets the required standards.

Gender Inequality

There has been an increased debate, especially in the 19th century and around the the1960s on how disadvantaged women were in terms of access to proper education. Gender differences are the cause of scientific, political, and social debates. Before Europe experienced an expansion in education, girls’ level of education was lower than that of boys. Zeng (2014) provided shreds of evidence of the type of gender inequality in the education system in China. Though China has tried to deal with the cases of gender inequality, there have been mixed outcomes. Due to gender inequality, half the number of girls who live in sub-Saharan Africa have no access to elementary education.

In India, the majority of girls are not in school. The number of boys who are in school is significantly higher than the number of girls Rozelle S. (2014). Educating girls has a very significant effect on economic growth. When girls are educated, they are likely to make better life choices compared to Boys. The fact that there is gender inequality has a significant effect on long-term economic growth. The way a society will perceive particular gender affects what level they are going to reach in terms of their education.

Teenage Pregnancy

Teenage pregnancy is one of the causes of why many young people are not able to have access to proper education—teenage pregnancy results when young ladies are not able to have access to proper information about sex. In Scotland, there have been spiking cases in teenage pregnancy. Because young women are not able to have access to sex education, they end up getting pregnant and dropping out of school Adams (, 2008). In 2005 679 girls all under the age of 16 got pregnant. With proper education, young girls will be able to avoid getting pregnant while they are in school.

Lack of Classrooms

Without a place to learn, it is very difficult to be able to provide formal education. Millions of children globally have no access to good classrooms. In sub- Saharan Africa, most of the children are forced to learn inside overcrowded classrooms. According to Rueckert (2018), there are 130 students per classroom in Malawi; this makes it very difficult to offer formal education to the students. When there are no classrooms it is of concern where the children will go, this has the effect on the attendance of the children in school.

Lack of Educational Materials

There are cases where children are not able to access materials such as books and technological devices that are going to support lessons.  Teachers always lack the necessary materials that they need to prepare for lessons. Many students will be sharing a single book and a desk.  Statistics in Tanzania show that 3.5% of students in the six grades are using one textbook. This has negative effects on the quality of education that will be offered.

 Solutions

There are many recommendations and solutions that can be planned to make sure that we deal with the problem of lack of education.

Financial Support for poor Families, Increasing the Infrastructure and supporting Teachers.

The first thing that should be considered is how teachers are going to be supported in their role as teachers Cunningham (, 1983). Teachers face a lot of issues while dealing with students. This article explains some of the challenges, such as being overwhelmed and burnout. The teachers may experience exhaustion in their attitudes; they may experience physical emotions as a result.  When teachers experience stress, it is very hard for them to teach the students effectively. Teachers are supposed to be provided with good moral and financial support. Cunningham, W (1983). Education can be made better if all the stakeholders join their hands and make sure that their investments are being made in the sector. Sometimes there is no interest by stakeholders or the government to offer quality education.

Financial support to poor families will ensure that there are subsidies that are given to parents so that they can take their children to school. This is the main area if we are going to eliminate lack of education because the main cause of lack of education is poverty. By offering financial support, we can be able to deal with the inequalities. We cannot talk about education without looking at the infrastructures. This is where students are going to learn. The situation around the world (n.d) has provided how this challenge in education can be mitigated. Infrastructural in terms of classes and materials of study is very important. Training should be offered to teachers so that they can remain motivated in the classrooms and provide the best education possible to the children.

There are some of the challenges faced when it comes to financial support that can be offered to promote education. There has to be goodwill from every stakeholder; lack of goodwill can lead to mismanagement of the resources that will be provided for education.

Limitations and recommendations

A lot of research work that has been used in this work have based their finding on the causes of Lack of Education and the effects that it has on the community. Very few research works or articles are pointing on some of the solutions that have been implemented. The article by Pritchett, L. (2004) gives us the impacts of addressing some of the challenges of lack of education. However, it has not offered some of the recommendations that are expected to obtain good results.

In the future, there will be a need to focus research on this area so that stakeholders and financial institutions can see the importance of funding the education sectors. Though some article has highlighted education as the main concern, especially in alleviating poverty, a lot of data is missing on the statistics that are involved.  There are biases when it comes to defining populations who are affected by lack of education, with most of the research focusing on African countries.

 

Conclusion

There are serious issues that are a result of lack of education; some include poverty, low standards of living, gender inequality, and sometimes teenage pregnancy. We have looked at some of the solutions that are supposed to be put in place so that we can deal with the effects of lack of education. All over the world, there is a case where a particular section of the population is not able to have access to proper and quality education. Putting the right infrastructures in place and financial support will help children have access to quality education. Not only will this type of assistance help, but teachers are supposed to be given the support that they need to have a good environment where they can offer education.
