In journalism, messages have been distributed to customers in several ways. Due to a change in society, many people use different social media platforms to get information. Digital journalism is the current/modern form of journalism where the content or information is spread through the internet. News and features on current matters are presented independently or in a combination of audio, video, and texts and distributed through digital technology. Digital journalism has been made easy through the use of computer technologies. Digital journalism has improved the flow of information, restricted or determined by newspapers, magazines, radio, and television. Most people have argued that excellent knowledge is expressed in digital journalism compared to other journalism platforms like print and broadcast journalism. The digital is the center of the message and rests within the creativity of the writer.
Most of the news is spread to people through print and broadcast news. Most people mostly depend on information from broadcast more than print information since many people have no time to get information from newspapers. Therefore they get news from the broadcast. Print and broadcast news have some differences and similarities.
Print and broadcast journalism are similar in their content. Both make use of the properties of news when writing the stories. They have specific patterns of writing, and they provide the audience with information regarding their society daily. The difference between print and broadcast news is that broadcast news is written for viewers and listeners. Print journalism has tangible information that is designed and purposed to be reread. In print journalism, the content is presented in AP style, whereas in broadcast journalism, it uses AP style and broadcast presentation style.
Print journalism changes writing than broadcasting. Newspapers are altered to ensure the level of accuracy is maintained. Broadcast journalism spreads what is already written word by word as the content appears. Minimal editing is done in broadcasting. Digital journalism cannot be changed since the content is delivered through the internet and cannot be rescheduled or edited for whatever reason. This is because there is no individual journalist involved in the spread of news on social media.
Print journalism uses an inverted pyramid structure. Broadcast journalism also uses the same concept where the most critical content is designed on the upper part of the story. Broadcast journalism gives all the information to the audience and leaves the audience satisfied without anything to question. Digital journalism employs the technique whereby the picture is placed on top of the content since its image communicates a lot to the audience.
Print and digital journalism does not limit time for the reader to get the content in the news. This is because the information will remain on these platforms for a very long time. For instance, in digital journalism, the content of the information stays there forever. In broadcast journalism, getting the news is controlled since the device containing the broadcasting system delivers the information at a specific time of the day. The content of the news is lost, for example, the radio. Digital journalism is an excellent platform since its information is sourced from the internet, and its content cannot be changed.
