The proper healthcare system is critical in the community; hence, healthcare leaders need to assess healthcare needs effectively. The healthcare leaders need to evaluate the healthcare needs of a particular community using appropriate healthcare assessments tool. It is important to note that all delivery strategies in the healthcare system should be evidence-based, affordable, and practical and must meet the needs of the surrounding community (Stadler et., al. 2018). Healthcare leaders must ensure they comprehend and thoroughly assesses the community by providing appropriate and effective healthcare resources (Filice & Dampier, 2018). Besides, nurse leaders must ensure that they fully understand health care economics and policy to better the quality of care. They should also ensure they better the value of change implemented. An epitome way of assessing the healthcare needs for a particular community may be through the use of the windshield surveys to enhance the outcomes of patient-centered care that in the urban and rural communities (Filice & Dampier, 2018). Therefore, this paper explores the summary of the windshield survey. It also highlights the environmental analysis of the Jordan City.
Windshield Survey and Environmental Analysis of Jordan City
Jordan is a small town situated in the Minnesota countryside. Jordan borders Armatage on the south sides of the Minneapolis. Being a little town, it usually experiences various healthcare issues based on the environmental Analysis and Windshield msurvey, as discussed below.
Environmental Analysis of Jordan City

The Jordan city hosts a population of about 6500 people. Based on the environment analysis, the people of Jordan City do experience various healthcare challenges that need to be addressed by the healthcare leaders. One of the primary healthcare problems is inadequate healthcare facilities to offer service to the people of Jordan City as well as the inaccessibility of healthcare centers in some places. For instance, in the downtown district, there are two conventional healthcare centers, the St. Francis Health Center, which is next to the local library, and the Allina Healthcare services center. Both two health care units in the area provide a full range of outpatient, inpatient, and emergency care for its people. On the other hand, in the suburban region of Jordan is the Oak Terrace Senior Living Center that also provides healthcare services to the people (Vila Health, n.d.). Besides, the downtown district has poor infrastructures such as dilapidated houses, making people live under risky conditions, thus making people’s lives to be in danger.
Windshield Survey
Based on the windshield survey, there is more of socio-economic decline in the downtown Jordan district compared to the suburban areas. For instance, there are few and education centers. The shopping centers in downtown remains closed. The painting on the buildings is chipping, and the housing is siding falling (Vila Health, n.d.). The area has unmaintained and broken cars in the street corners. Many buildings in the streets are surrounded by debris and covered in graffiti. The downtown churches are in decent condition.
Contrary to the downtown Jordan district, the suburban area in the City of Jordan is relatively new. The buildings are well renovated hence making it look new. Most of the homes in the area have large areas of recreation, with vehicles and boats everywhere on the driveways for use. The schools in suburban areas are easily accessible.
The midtown district of Jordan City has Jordan Baseball Park and Lagoon Park. The parks can be accessed easily from the suburbs and downtown. They are many playing fields, walkways, and sports fields (Vila Health, n.d.). All the parks in the area act as an excellent place where people can meet.
Summary Report
Jordan’s downtown district faces a decline in socio-economic compared to suburban areas. The area lacks easy access to healthcare facilities, education centers, and dilapidated structures, whereby some buildings remain unoccupied and others with graffiti presence. The residents living in the suburban area seems to have better access to education and senior care centers (Dunn, Price, & Neder, 2015).
Jordan City has a growing population, whereby 60 percent of its residents are sixty-five years old.With the majority of older people, there are likely to suffer from dementia. Therefore, there is a need to have many healthcare givers in rural parts to curb dementia. Thus, Jordan’s Lagoon Park and Baseball Park may act as good places to host organizations willing to provide health programs to control and prevent dementia in the area. All healthcare facilities in the area should be equipped to provide services to residents hence preventing dementia.
In conclusion, from the environmental analysis and windshield survey, it is clear that the people of Jordan have a severe healthcare problem which needs to be addressed by the healthcare needs. For instance, based on the increasing population of Jordan, healthcare leaders need to establish more healthcare facilities to solve the problem.
