Interviews
Question #1
At the time of selection here is a candidate- order (contrast) error and pressure to hire on employers. Elaborate this statement with an example
There is an error of judgement on the interviewer brought about by the order in which he sees the applicants, which inturn could affect their rating.
Explanation
The contrast effect has a huge impact on the interviewer, whereby an interviewer after first evaluating unfavourable applicants, could end up rating an average applicant highly than they could have otherwise been rated, if they were interviewed first. Non-verbal behaviors such as facial expressions, eye contact and arm gestures have a greater impact on the interviewees rating, however, the interviewer should avoid being guided by the applicants personal characteristics such as attractiveness and gender. An interviewee should however look alive during an interview as it certainly pays during rating.
