Interpersonal skills are the essential skills since we use them in our day to day lives. When we communicate and interact with other people. Motivation is the incitement or inducement to act or move, it is essential for a manager to posse the skill as it helps him/her to induce the employees to act in a predetermined desired manner to achieve the organizational goal. It also plays an important role in giving the employees the desire to work in the direction determined by the manager. Managers are responsible for dealing with the duties of improving employee productivity, morale, teamwork, and performance. If an experienced manager wants to remain on top, then he/she needs to have all the required communication skills.

It is important for a manager to have the ability to solve something that has the potential of being negative or a sensitive topic but in a constructive and respectively way. When a manager confronts, he/she brings out something that is required but he/she is also aware of the danger it could cause. Coaching and development skills are very important as they enhance employees’ skills and enabling the manager to concentrate on other development skills as more tasks are dedicated to the employees. It is important to set smart goals, as it helps eliminates errors and provision of the right direction helping someone to organize and reach the goals easily. To develop and practice my management skills by conducting weekly 1:1s with my direct reports and quarterly 1:1s with my indirect reports and quarterly all-hands with my team resulting to 10% improvement in employee engagement score at the end of the year is an example of a SMART goal I set.

As it is a specific goal, can be measured, in due time I will achieve, it is also real, and it has a time-bound by the end of the year. Decisions on behalf of the company are made by all the managers at different levels. The decision from different levels lies in the scope of the choices made. Senior management is involved in making long-term decisions that affect the company. as they have a substantial amount of experience. They are exposed to many unstructured decisions that are open-ended which requires many insights from many information and personal experiences. They always encounter structured decisions. However, their decisions include unstructured components. The supervisors or the rand and file employees always make structured decisions. They always set performance goals, ensuring that every employee is present and they understand their work duties thus their decisions surround the workflow.
