Part 1

Respond to the following prompt using 90 to 175 words:
- Explain the importance of health care policy and its impact on health care determinants.
All organizations make policies regardless of the different industries. According to Longest & Association of University Programs in Health Administration (2016), “policies are officially or authoritatively made decisions for guiding actions, decisions, and behaviors of others” (p.9). Usually, these decisions are “authoritative because they are made by people who are entitled to make them based on their positions in their entities” (Longest & Association of University Programs in Health Administration, 2016 p.9). In the healthcare sector, the federal, state, and local governments’ policies and influence both the individuals and healthcare firms at large. These health policies are made to enhance the achievement of health objectives in the U.S., such as the provision of affordable and quality care to citizens. These policies may also shape the social and physical environments, the behavioral choices and biology, crucial determinants of the healthcare industry.

3.Implementation decisions | Water Quality Improvement | Regulatory health policy | According to Eberhard, Brodie & Waterhouse (2017), water quality improvement “primarily aims at mitigating the adverse impacts of intensive agricultural land use adjacent to streams and rivers” (p.267). This act protects public interests. |
4. Judicial decision | Supreme Court’s 2008 MetLife v. Glenn decision
|
Allocative health policy | MetLife v. Glenn’s decision was a U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in 2008 on the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) benefits litigation, which protects the interests of retired employees. |
Part 3
Respond to the following prompt using 90 to 175 words:
- Describe how the different forms of health care policy can be used to shape future policies.
Healthcare is a high-risk industry for investors primarily because it deals with the overall well- being of individuals. Thus, policies are implemented to ensure that the interests of individuals, a group, or the organization at large are protected. That said, the modification of these policies depend on trends or weaknesses in a given policy; thus, improvements are made to such policies to rectify the weaknesses. This ensures that healthcare industries minimize risks that may arise. With different forms of healthcare policies, stakeholders should rest assured that the overall healthcare quality delivery is improved.
