Negotiation is a conversation shared in two or more people’s confidence to reach an outcome that is beneficial to one or more problems. Doctors practice sharing the decision-making process with their patients through negotiation in acquiring a plan that helps work towards the patient’s treatment. The individual patient can gain a method of treatment that is unusual to a particular patient. Face-to-face negotiation of doctors and patients in abandoning drug abuse plays a vital role in getting an individual to quit. Patient education is essential in improving their health status. Involving patients in their care increases the chances of successful outcomes. Some patients’ status limits their ability to acquire patients’ education, such as the level of education, language barrier, inability to hear and listen well, and the teaching method required.
Some critics argue that patients do not want involvement in decision making. The cons of negotiation lead to increased cost, unnecessary demands, and destructive processes that can hinder hospital resources’ equitable allocation. The pros of nursing negotiations are that sometimes patients require more excellent information, more involvement, quick solution, and maintaining the relationship. The general conditions included in inpatient contracts are; attendance, behavior, and confidentiality. The showing of privacy by the handling of confidential information of the patient by the staff. Patients need to observe time in their appointments with the doctor, and they should not miss it. There is no tolerating of patients who physically and verbally abuse staff members.
The baby boomers are a collection of the population born in World War II at the period of 1946 and 1964. The people of baby boomers are increasing, and the individual’s age is about fifty-three and seventy-four; hence, this will impact healthcare facilities due to the lack of adequate healthcare providers. The baby boomer is a challenge that needs to be solved as they lead to nurses’ overworking and burnout. Generalization difference is mostly in elderly patients as they prefer a little older doctor as they observe that 30-year-old healthcare does not have the experience to manage them. Healthcare professionals acquire training techniques to apply while handling related patient’s spiritual aspects. The cultural difference arises when there is a different understanding between the patient and the doctor about the illness, and communication barriers are the problem source.
Elderly patients face an obstacle in their learning, and they need to consider ensuring the full realization of patient education. Diseases of old age, such as chronic, mental illness, visual and sensory losses, might hinder patient education to the old age. In the sensory loss, patients have deficiencies in hearing, sense of touch, smell and taste, and visual defect. The main aim of providing patient education to the elderly is to improve them in leaving a healthy lifestyle through their actions. Questions should be given to the elderly to determine their readiness level in education activities (Kececi & Bulduk, 2012). In the start of health education for the elderly, problems of patients, short and long-term implications of their disorders, coping mechanisms’ efficiency, and their requirements related to their deficiencies.
Our society consists of many cultural and religious beliefs that events such as death differently. Christians believe that death is a time of joy as the dead person goes to heaven with God, and also some sadness of friends and loved ones miss the person died. Seventh-day Adventists believe that death is just an unconscious sleep, and everyone will awake after the coming of Christ as it is God’s plan. Discussion of death with the elderly is essential as it guarantees their selection options to be identified and maintain control over their healthcare decisions. The conversation helps an old to express their feeling, views, needs, and wishes. The teaching of the patient with a life-threatening illness is usually a complicated process. The caregivers from a healthcare facility can help recover the disease through their support of the individual affected. Spiritual teaching can also help those patients with ill-health that threatens life to recover.
