Diseases caused by poor dietary habits have been on the rise. Nutritionist advices the population to eat healthy food in order to improve their immunity and also protect them from various lifestyle diseases. Guidelines on healthy food have been developed in order to promote good eating habits and improve body immunity. Nutritionist advises that we should eat a different variety of foods every day. Our body requires above 40 nutrients in order to protect us from diseases and sustain good health. It is not possible to have all these types of nutrients in one type of food hence the need to eat a variety of food.
Another guideline involves eating vegetables and fruits daily. Consumption of fruit improves the ability of the body to protect itself from pathogens since they contain vitamin C which is vital in improving immunity. During the pandemic, the citizens are advised to improve their vitamin C intake and these can be done by intake of fruits and vegetables. The other requirement is proteins which are very essential in a various cellular process. The major sources of proteins include chicken, legumes, fish, and nuts. Poultry, fish, and meat are sources of nutrients that are essential such as zinc, iron, and vitamins.
All these foods should be taken only in limited proportion to avoid the deposition of cholesterol content. Legumes are also sources of protein, minerals, vitamins, and fiber. Examples of legumes are cowpeas, legume, kidney beans, green beans, soybeans, lenticels, and beans. Diet should contain enough cereals or products from cereals. Grains particularly whole grains are major sources of carbohydrates and fibers. The nutritionist also advises that the inclusion of dairy products and milk in our diet every day. Dairy products act as sources of calcium which is an important element in the nervous system, blood clotting, and strong bone formation. The amount of fat intake, drink, and food with high sugar levels, salt intake, and alcohol intake should be reduced. It is also advisable to drink enough water or liquids daily which plays a very important role in transportation, digestion, and absorption.
Factors leading to poor control of food intake.
Despite the fact that a proper diet is important in ensuring good health in humans, not all people are able to follow these guidelines due to various factors. One of the factors is the cost of sustaining a daily well-balanced diet. Another factor is the lack of information about proper nutrition. Poor families may not be able to afford a well-balanced.
