In a rapidly changing world, the three most important skills and competencies in organizational behaviour (OB) for CIS or MBA students about to graduate would be interpersonal abilities, adaptability with change management, and data-driven decision-making. Getting along well with others, communicating effectively and working collaboratively in teams is essential for any career in business or technology (Hitt et al., 2017). With business and technology landscapes being so dynamic, one must be able to adjust to different situations and embrace changes around them while helping organizations go through these periods successfully. Furthermore, using research findings from OB and data when making choices can result in better strategies that work best for businesses.
These OB skills and competencies matter in relation to the careers of CIS and MBA graduates because they help individuals navigate effectively through the complexity found within modern-day organizations (Gagné, 2018). In the field of CIS, strong interpersonal skills can foster fruitful collaboration among project teams, whereas adaptability plus change management aid professionals in driving innovations besides guiding them towards leading companies during technological changes. Similarly, within an MBA setting, data-based decisions may improve strategic planning capabilities, thereby enhancing problem-solving approaandtimes increasing overall performance levels for business (Buchanan & Huczynski, 2019).
As a student in this OB course, I have some words of wisdom I can share with future students: actively engage with the course material and apply the concepts to real-world scenarios to deepen their understanding and practical application. Seeking opportunities to develop and practice OB skills in various contexts will also build a strong foundation for future career success. Additionally, embracing continuous learning and growth is crucial, as the field of OB is dynamic and evolving, requiring a commitment to ongoing skill development and adaptation to change.
