The thesis statement
My own words.
I reside in Kentucky River where wastes is a significant problem, and sanitary landfills are becoming full of scraps.
Part 2.
Used specific examples
- An excellent easy should present hard evidence that it offers before the readers. In the essay, the author has backed up his findings with examples. He also gives examples of his household, where they purchase plastic materials in the form of food. Evidently in the 4th paragraph. In the essay, the writer has successfully captured the attention of the reader and goes ahead to provide a background to be discussed. In his introductory statement, the reader can see and have an idea of what is about to talk.
- Capture attention of the audience
The essay captures the attention of the audience. In the beginning, he has used a hook to attract the attention of the reader when he recognizes himself as being a country person. Also, the author’s introduction has given the background to the topic hence developing more interest to the reader.
- Anecdote
The author has effectively utilized an anecdote which involves a little illustration at the beginning of the essay. He talks briefly about which meant beautiful; however, the river is no longer beautiful again because of accumulated wastes. This becomes an ideal way to tell a story.
- Ending with a call to action
Towards the end, the author has a call to action, which is a remarkable way to end an essay. He says. He urges all his readers to change behaviour and learn to be environmental stewards by ensuring that we see and act. His call to action is for all Americans to change their behaviour.
Part 3
The order of importance.
Mc Lean (2012) writes that the order of importance pinpoints a particular situation problem or even a solution. Similarly, the author Wendell berry discusses the issue of waste right from the beginning and also gives more and linking the current situation to the deterioration of the economy. In the beginning, he introduces readers to the problem under discussion. He says that since he is a country person, he feels very disturbed by the current environmental situation. Towards the end, he urges readers to embrace stewardship towards the environment. It’s, therefore, a solution to the problem that he introduced to the beginning; consequently, he is following the order of importance approach.

Transitional words
The author has successfully used different types of a transitional word to convey different meaning as illustrated below

The transitional word has been used in the first paragraph to connect ideas. The author jointly brings some of the significant causes of water pollution. He shows the magnitude of pollution by indicating that sanitary fields are being dumped with cans and in addition to the local production.
- Moreover
Garcia Reyes, & Veloz Garcia, (2019) highlight that the transitional word moreover conveys more information. Similarly, the author Wendell Berry has also used at the beginning of the second paragraph. He uses furthermore to add more details by saying that they are other causes of environmental degradation, which include the worthless automobiles a clear indication of the magnitude of pollution.
- As a result.
The author has used the word as a result which is a form of a transitional word to indicate additional information on tie devastating effects aligned to human damages. He says in the second last paragraph. He says that as a result, the country people have indeed defiled the land.
