Information system is the information and communication technology (ICT) used in organizations and the way people use the technology in business support processes. Information systems are important in producing expected outputs in the following ways.
Information systems in businesses smoothen the ways of making decisions. It takes place when there is a simplified delivery of required information helping decisions to be made instantly. In boardroom meetings in companies and institutions, easy access to information saves time on making decisions.
Business information system simplifies storage of operational data records, documents, revision histories and communication records. This saves time in storing data manually, therefore, simplifying the retrieval of data
Business information system helps in behavioural changes as easy flow of information and decision making from management to employees takes place. This gesture makes employees feel like part of decision-makers, making them committed and motivated towards doing tasks hence aiding management.

Data exists in both qualitative and quantitative variables that help to construct outcomes. Data is always independent and does not depend on other concepts to existing, unlike information.
Information is prepared data which has been organized, aggregated and processed to a human-friendly format to provide more context. Information is mostly delivered in forms of dashboards, reports and data visualizations. Information addresses usefulness since it is a data product that is interpreted to deliver logical meaning.
Knowledge is the awareness and the familiarity of places, ideas, and ways of doing things or a person that is gathered from discovering, perceiving and learning. Knowledge connotes the practical understanding entities together with the ability to use it for a specific purpose.
