COVID-19 is a contagious and infectious disease caused by the novel coronavirus. The virus spreads through body fluid droplets when an infected individual sneezes or coughs, hence the need for respiratory etiquette. Most people experience moderate to mild respiratory illness, and they recover without any special treatment. However, older people with pre-existing chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and cancer can develop severe illness. One contracts the disease after close contact with the body fluids of an infected person hence the need for social distancing. The main symptoms for coronavirus infection include; fever, sore throat, persistent dry cough, fatigue, diarrhea, headache, and loss of senses of taste and smell (WHO, 2020). In this case study, the 42-year old man is a high clinical suspicion to COVID-19 considering his classic signs and symptoms and the contact history. Therefore, he must take extra precautions to ensure. One of the critical precautions is to self-isolation for 14 days to ensure that he does not come into contact with anyone. He can be isolated either at home or at the hospital. The isolation will help ensure that he does not infect anyone else, including his family members, considering the mode of transmission of COVID-19. During the isolation period, he will be under constant review of professional physicians who will ensure he is treated well, in case he is confirmed to be COVID-19 positive. Temperature monitoring is vital in assessing COVID-19 clinical suspicion (NBC News, 2020). Therefore, he should take the isolation recommendation positively to ensure that he does not transmit the disease to anyone.
