Growing secularism
Growing secularism is one of the challenges facing the unity of three religions: Christianity, Judaism, and Islamic. Secularism means not connected with spiritual matters and instead adopts a highly controlled life by political and economic power. Also, religion itself, to some extent, has been secularized ‖ meaning there has been massive transfer from ecclesiastical domain to civil, material possession, and control. An example of growing secularism is based on the scope of limited freedom in expression when some legal effort is confronted with religious ideas. Legal responses complicate religious ideas, which include anti-defamation laws, criminal law, and hate speech law. Religion has to find a significant challenge in reaching our right decision significantly when these laws change to become a global or international issue.
Challenge of self-identity
Self-identity in the current world creates a significant challenge between religions of Christianity, Islamic, and Judaism. The self-identity has led to believers’ loss of confidence and certainty regarding life (Omar 2010). This pessimistic picture forms believers of all religions are based on the growing trend diminish the daily spiritual aspects. This has led to self-destruction, as human beings have turned against spiritual makeup.
Globalization refers to a social, political, and economical movement of capitalism across the globe. Globalization tends to bring out an idea of pluralism between religions hence causing overlapping of ethics and interests. Globalization enables religious tolerance in central areas of economic, politics, and society. Through globalization, religion has developed from various technological advancements. For example, websites have become a platform for information sharing between one religion to another. On the other hand, it has created hatred and religious mocking, paving the way for more divisions between various religions.
Conclusion
From the study, all three religions affirm that salvation is the process by which one is accepted or accepted back in the presence of God through the Lord’s grace though they differ in the way it is achieved. Besides, all religion agrees that without salvation, no one can enter the presence of God. The topic of religion comparisons is essential in shaping a profession, especially the nursing profession here in the US. Going by what we have learned, knowing different types of religions helps a nurse develop culturally competent nursing. The US is a diverse country. It is essential to bring everyone on board to make important public health decisions. The only to do this is by having culturally competent nursing care at hand. Understanding of each religion’s values, beliefs, and religious dogma would help a nurse ensure practical problem-solving.
