Virtual Stock Exchange Experience Question One The positions that exceeded my expectations were with companies Yahoo and Apple. The reason why they exceeded my expectation is that these are not trading organizations. Apple for instance sells phones, computers, and tablets. Additionally, the company offers android services. Yahoo exceeded my expectations since people know about products by the organization. Question Two The positions that underperformed for me were those taken by NASDAQ, NYSE, and S&P 500 Dow. The factors that led to the underperformance of the companies were because of a lack of investors, investing in the wrong time, and low trading stocks. Therefore, the companies experienced losses since there were no sales. Question Three There are several key things learned from the Virtual Stock Exchange experience. The first lesson is to be careful with the stocks I buy. Caution is required here since I can buy stocks that do not sell well in NYSE or if they do, it is a low price. This is one of the reasons why some companies make losses and vice versa. The second lesson…
Healthy People 2020 goals Discussion 5, 4055 One of the Healthy People 2020 goals is attaining high-quality lives through preventing diseases and living longer. Nurses can teach patients about prevention, response, and control measures especially when faced with a pandemic. Patients need to understand that preventing diseases begins with regular check-ups with primary care physicians. Therefore, nurses must emphasize the importance of patients going for screening tests for early disease detection and prevention. When patients follow such procedures, it promotes good health since diseases can be prevented or detected early thus leading to better healthcare outcomes. As such, attaining this Healthy People 2020 goal requires the collaboration of healthcare institutions, nurses, and patients. Another Healthy People 2020 goal is the promotion of healthy behaviors across all life stages. Nurses can positively impact this goal through increasing immunization rates especially for communicable diseases. Such diseases include pneumonia, influenzas, Hepatitis, HIV, flu, and measles. On top of increasing immunization against these diseases, nurses can educate the public on some of the ways to prevent their spread. This however requires nurses have an…
Substantive Response to Discussion Question or Topic Healthcare continues to evolve and recently incorporated technology in its daily nurse operations and practices. Technology however has aided healthcare professionals to meet the increasing demands of their patients. On this note, technology is an aspect that has heavily impacted the healthcare community especially through providing platforms for nurses to learn. Your response Ruben is articulate and well researched on the effects of technology on healthcare. I concur with your assessment that the evolution of technology has a tremendous effect on the delivery of healthcare. Through technology, nurses and other healthcare professionals can diagnose patients and offer treatment quickly (Coccia, 2016). Such efficient delivery of healthcare services has the sector reliable since it leads to better health outcomes. It is true that technology provides the required software to ensure there is improved healthcare and efficient disease control among medical institutions. All in all, technological advancements have helped healthcare professionals deliver the needed quality care that ensures disease control and prevention. Technology introduced electronic health records that help medical staff access patient data…
Case Study Questions Question One There are several ways that consumer preferences are changing and include choosing to purchase energy cars, favoring small cars, seeking tech-related experiences, and sharing of car ownership to distribute the cost of purchase. Additionally, some customers share their cars of other people and help with the maintenance and repair costs. The introduction of uber has led to many customers choosing to buy small cars. Yes, customers can articulate what they will purchase in the next five years. Due to the increasing interest in small cars and energy powered cars, many customers will prefer such vehicles especially electric-powered cars by Tesla. More importantly, small cars are cheaper to buy and five years from now, the economic situation will be unknown. Question Two The new industry entrants and their technologies are significant because they influence customer preference. For instance, Tesla introducing electric-powered cars leads to customers preferring to purchase such cars as opposed to petrol ones. The cars are however not lethal for established automakers. The introduction of these modern cars however means that competition against Ford…
Inishmaan, Final scenes The townspeople gathered to watch the film Man of Aran and they think that it is one of the most unique movies they have seen. One of the reasons they enjoyed the film is because it preserves traditions that are vanishing in the 21st century. The people also enjoyed the documentary is the art mastery depiction of man and nature. Also, the film captures the terrifying grandeur of the ocean for instance during the shark attack scene. The preservation of traditions is important since it reminds the audiences of their history and how it shapes who they are. The townspeople appreciating the art mastery in the film is significant because it teaches people to believe in themselves and their talents. This is because the documentary was shot in 1934, with a substandard camera with a black and white picture (McDonagh, 2015). All in all, if the story is good in your documentary, the target audience will appreciate it. McDonagh makes a nod towards happiness and resolution by showing salvage ethnography. This is a concept that involves the…
Week 8 Health reply 1 Yes, I agree with the post as many people suffer silently from depression and other mental related problems. It is the responsibility of healthcare professionals to provide a platform where people can be open if they are undergoing any mental related problems. From the case study, John lacked the resources to seek professional help especially after losing his job, wife, and children. More importantly, he did not have anyone to talk to for mental relief. This is another aspect that I agree with since talking with a professional for instance a therapist is as helpful as being subscribed to anti-depressants. John however did not receive any help which increased his chances of suicide. The post highlights the development of a computer program to predict the likelihood of suicides. This will be achieved through the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) research institute (NIMH, 2019). In my view, this is a viable option that needs to be further investigated and developed by institutions dealing with mental related problems. The existence of such programs could have helped…
Why Businesses Should Embrace Sustainability Most, if not all, businesses are striving to achieve sustainability in their operations in this 21st Century. Haanaes (2020) states that sustainability is an approach that businesses apply to ensure long-term efficiency by considering how they operate in the economic, ecological, and social environments. Sustainability is a concept that encompasses three issues; the impact of the business on the environment, society, and economy (Spiliakos, 2020). The main aim of sustainability is to ensure equality among its three pillars; economic, social, and environmental. According to Purvis, Mao & Robinson (2019), these three pillars are often, but always, presented in three intersecting circles representing the environment, society, and economy. This portrays a relationship where there should be an effort towards all the pillars. If one of the factors is neglected, sustainability is not achieved. Spiliakos (2020) states that it is the responsibility of business enterprises to make an effort towards positive impacts in either one or all the pillars. Failure can lead to negative impacts. Therefore, businesses should embrace sustainability to ensure long-term sustenance, the…
Islam Religion I come from a Muslim family, and I have to be honest, being a Muslim is pretty cool, easy, and interesting. We often say that “Islam is a straight path” towards salvation or paradise. This is because our guidelines are easy, straight forward, and pretty simple to follow. To be a Muslim means believing in Allah, the Mosque is our place of worship, and the Qur’an is our holy book. It is about knowing Allah’s will for oneself and others, which then guides how we live on our day to day lives. This means that we have to honor Allah’s responsibilities (Haquq Allah) and responsibilities to creatures such as fellow human beings (Haquq al-‘ibad). As Muslims, we are guided by different principles. First, it is the prayer or salah. We often pray five times a day: noon, mid-afternoon, evening, and after sunset. While praying, we face Mecca because this city has the most sacred place, Ka’abah. We have the option of praying alone or at the mosque under the guidance of Imam. We pray while standing on…

Should citizens disobey the law when it proves to be unjust? The rise in civil disobedience across a number of countries, both developed and underdeveloped, is perhaps a growing concern and should not be downplayed. In the recent past, many countries have experienced a growing recognition in regard to civil disobedience, evidenced by the many cases of refusals and non-violent protests. Civil disobedience is basically the active resistance or rather refusal of a citizen to obey certain commands and laws of a government on the grounds of unfair treatment, unjust laws, and various forms of inequalities, to say the least.[1] However, the question of whether citizens should obey the law when it is certain that the law is just has elicited mixed reactions among various groups and people, each fronting their own views and perspectives. Many governments, say, the US government, for example, have overtime been at the center of protests due to its unjust laws, and this clearly demonstrates how unjust laws can be detrimental not only to the government but to the people as well. Notably, the…
