Giving feedback Giving feedback is an invaluable skill for managers. I believe in constructive feedback and I can attest that I give feedback to all my co-workers or people who are working under me. For the future, I understand that we cannot always give positive feedback even when not deserving as being honest is key. I will strive to guide the people I give feedback on the best way they can learn and improve from such feedback in a positive manner. My belief is such will create a good rapport between me and people working with or under me for overall better performance. My best technique to employ to gauge y employee’s performance is performance appraisal. Such gives you an idea on whether a certain employee is performing as per expectation or not, and that you are in a position to devise means to advise them accordingly.
Training nursing skills The title “Training nursing skills: A quantitative study of nursing students’ experiences before and after clinical practice” conveniently describes the target group concerned with the research. It, however, does not give specifics of the particular group of students that was used within the research. The variables are concisely stated to be nursing students but the lesser overlook of mentioning the school or group from which the students are derived from is insufficient. The abstract is indicated showing a clear cut purpose to be investigated; that is the two learning methods for a procedural bed bath. It further details the scope of the research by including the methods to be used, the findings, and the conclusions made by the investigators. The journal “Training nursing skills” is written by two researchers, Elisabeth Solvik and Solveig Struksnes. Elisabeth Solvik is a commendable researcher in the nursing field, currently assigned to Norwegian University of Science and Technology; under the department of nursing. Solveig Struksnes is a researcher similarly attached to the Norwegian University under the Department of Health sciences. They are…

Non-verbal cues Non-verbal cues are communication between people but it doesn’t have a direct verbal translation. Examples of non-verbal cues include the dress code, body language, facial expressions eye contact, and time . These features show somebody’s expressions apart from the actual words spoken verbally. Eye contact is an example of a non-verbal that I always do on purpose. This cue is very crucial in my workplace because it shows a sign of trust and truthness. Eye contact helps in building trust and confidence among others when having an official communication. Maintaining eye contact reduces tension because of its natural ways of communicating hence it allows proper and effective communication. Although in my workplace I avoid too much eye contact because it portrays superiority and lack of trust in your boss. This non-verbal cue has greatly helped me in accomplishing my intentions because I have tried to maintain proper eye contact according to different contexts. Clothing is always the first impression one gets from people. They always make assumptions and judgments based on the dressing hence clothing indicates age, social…

Social statuses Status sets can be mentioned as the collection of social statuses that an individual can hold. In modern society, each and every person is obliged to hold one or several status sets. It also happens that for every status set that one has, there are roles and responsibility that comes with it, these different roles make human complex beings. For me, I at least hold four statuses in life currently. First of all, I am a student, and a student status comes along with the whole heap of roles, for example, it is my role to complete and submit all the assigned work on time, also, it is my role to do my best to ensure I good grades. Secondly, I am a part-time worker at a neighboring store where I work as a receptionist. First impression the meeting Lynn was convinced to storm out of the meeting first because she lacked self-efficacy. As discussed by Schwarzer (Ed.) (2013), it is the self-belief that one can execute the necessary qualifications, abilities, and behaviors to attain specific performance. The second reason was that Lynn failed to conduct a self-evaluation of her accomplishments in life for her professional development. Any instance of good self-evaluation would have led her to point to specific tasks and projects that highlight her best work, an example being the volleyball coaching she has been undertaking at school. Lynn also failed to observe herself well and turn her attention inwards and nonjudgmentally watch how she thought and felt. Though a good self-observation, she would have taken control of her emotions and sensations not to overwhelm her and cloud her judgment as supported by Calvete, Orue & Hankin, (2013). These three instances caused Lynn to apply her immediate reactions which showed her that she was incapable of fitting into the group, therefore affecting her cognitive processes that play a crucial part in social interactions.…
Drug abuse intervention amongst youths Today, major health challenges facing youth are a result of unhealthy behaviors that normally commence during adolescence. Typically, the patterns of drug and substance abuse that emerge during adolescence are recognized as the determinant factors that contribute to later substance abuse and disorders associated with it. Unhealthy behaviors such as smoking, drinking and the use of illicit drugs normally begin at the adolescence stage which in turn leads to adulthood disorders. The increasing number of youths doing drugs and the negative impacts of drug and substance abuse to the youths and their families creates the need for interventions to be developed. These interventions aim at reducing the number of youths doing drugs and eradicating unhealthy behaviors. One of the outstanding interventions is peer intervention. MacArthur et al. (2016) noted that peer intervention is effective in preventing drug and substance abuse such as smoking and drinking amongst adolescents. This kind of intervention is necessary for eradicating unhealthy behaviors which leads to negative health consequences amongst youths. Peer education has been employed to target the majority of…
