Sylvia Plath Sylvia Plath paints a picture of how society is unapologetically patriarchal. In Munich Mannequins, she begins by saying, “Perfection is terrible, it cannot have children.” She refers to the inanimate objects that are human-like and seem to have no flaws. Plath says this in response to the widely shared view that women alter their perfection by giving birth. In society, men lose their attraction to women after giving birth because they perceive their beauty has decreased. Their allure fades, and some husbands resort to cheating after their women give birth. This poem communicates the message that women can not be objected since they have a womb. Just like mannequins can not procreate, women can not be perfect. They are perfectly imperfect, as are all human beings, and “the blood flood is the flood of love.” There is an unequal treatment in marriage. Plinth paints a society where women are considered unequal and inferior to men when it comes to marriage. In the applicant, Plath explains that a woman has to follow certain procedures to be considered as a…
Acculturation Experience Student’s First Name, Middle Initial(s), Last Name Institutional Affiliation Course Number and Name Instructor’s Name and Title Assignment Due Date Acculturation Experience Taking a nursing course guarantees an individual an opportunity to learn a new way of living and approach different life features. One adopts a nursing culture found on professionalism and caregiving to all. It is a process developing throughout the training period as one learns nursing theories, practices, and caregiving strategies. By graduating, a nursing student interprets the cultural surrounding from a professional overview and focuses on making things better by applying evidence-based strategies. On the other hand, a new nursing colleague who joined the nursing team is learning the nursing culture. During the learning process, the student undergoes cultural modifications through borrowing traits from the nursing culture. The young member may have different perceptions of how to handle different things in a new career. Nevertheless, with a passion for nursing, the new nursing colleague learns through asking questions and copying cultural procedures from colleagues. The politics of representation is defined as “The competition over meaning among groups…” (Wenden). Different cultures are represented in a certain way, either in language, in print and electronic media. Pennington’s article addresses this by using a contemporary example of Katy Perry’s music video of her song Dark Horse. Pennington argues that the music video is replete with racial overtones in idealizing Oriental Egyptian culture. Pennington’s argument is that Perry’s video frames men of color and causes “cultural appropriation,” among other things. This is in tying with the idea of the politics of representation because, according to Pennington, the video misrepresents Oriental culture to fit western stereotypes. Pennington takes issue with several things in the video. The men of color in the video are represented in various ways as hypersexualized beasts who are objectified and destroyed when they have served their purpose. She argues that “This, in turn, helped produce narratives in which colonized men were often reduced to little more than sexual beasts.” She (Perry) is symbolized as a goddess, which she sees as a subliminal glorification of the…
Photograph Project My subject matter in this photograph is a flower corolla. I chose this flower because it fascinated me with its bright, beautiful, unusual, and delicate nature. What are the specific formal elements that you focused on in this photograph? When taking this photograph, I considered several formal elements such as light to ensure that the uppermost part of the flower is brightest. I also considered shape so that both straight-edged and curvy areas of the flower can be seen clearly. The texture is another element that I focused on and light to ensure white balance. Lastly, I considered a focus where I took only the petals of the flower. Would you classify your photograph as representational, abstract, or non-representational? I consider my photograph as a representational photograph. This is because my photograph is made up of the real world and represents the object (flower) photographed in a relatively realistic and objective manner. The flower photograph that I took explicitly reveals the representative properties of the flower to the viewer. Therefore, this photograph provides a more accurate image of…

Social Workers and the LGBTQ Population and Advocacy, Internationally Social workers normally have a role in ensuring the well-being of all members of the community. They help vulnerable members of society to get professional help, avoid negative experiences, and manage their affairs better. LGBTQ members are among the groups that utilize the help of social workers. In the statement, the speaker recognized the role of NASW in promoting all people’s well-being regardless of their social affiliations. The organization seeks to make social workers’ work easier through the provision of a conducive work environment (Extra, 2012). I believe the statement was strong and encouraged social workers to serve humanity and do well in society. Under NASW, social workers have an important role in promoting equal rights for members of the LGBTQ community. Their role entails ensuring that these people have access to all services that normal people access. Some of these privileges include healthcare, education, access to social amenities like parks, and playgrounds. The work of these workers also involves trying to address prejudice against the members of the LGBTQ community.…
Compare and Contrast your own worldview with a Christian worldview. AUTHOR NOTE: Compare and Contrast your own worldview with a Christian worldview. Is the nature of the world eternal, or does it have a beginning? Is it good or evil or something else? Is it orderly, or chaotic, intelligent, or absurd? During the 17th century, Europeans accepted biblical tales about the “the creation of the earth,” which admitted that the Earth would have an end since it had an origin. According to research about the tales, the Earth must have been created around some 6000 years ago. After a century, the evolution idea came with a sense of change, and this extended planet earth’s age. The arguments brought forth a conflict, long cited about the beginning of the Earth, and the Europeans passed intellectual questioning about the Earth’s face. The discussion was not only based on the flourishing of scientific reasoning but also the terrestrial surface observations. It also brought forth logical results about the environment, which was “profoundly saturated with religious beliefs,” and appraised humanistic criticism in…
One of the trending topics is the Vice Presidential debate between Kama Harris, the current senator of California, and the current vice president Mike Pence. According to the New York Times, the debate should not have taken place at all. The magazine states that given the continued Corona Virus outbreak in the Whitehouse, an in-person discussion was outright wrong. IS HUMAN COGNITION UNIQUE FROM THAT OF OTHER ANIMALS? WHY OR WHY NOT? Cognition refers to the process of understanding and mentally gaining knowledge, and cognitive processes include recalling, making judgments, and thinking. The brain performs all these mental processes. Human cognition is the ability to participate in problematic and target-oriented behaviours other than reacting to the moments at hand. Animals share many of the structural blocks that comprise of human thoughts, although there is a colossal reasoning gap or rift between them. Through their critical differences in reasoning abilities, we find that most of the elements are uniquely found in humans alone. Although there are apparent similarities, there is still a great gulf that is in between the humans and animals way of thinking in their lifetime. Some significant components make human thought more unique to the other animals, the ability of a human to recombine different ideas together to apply it as a solution. Earlier on it was believed that the ability to use tool equipment is regarded as for human’s capacity only. Still, animals like…
Healthcare Beliefs The patients who visit the hospital are from different cultures and hold on to other beliefs. Health practitioners need to approach cultural and social considerations from a relational perspective for a smooth assessment process. It also helps to understand and distinguish cultural sensitivity and cultural competence and how they affect the practice(Liang et al, 2013). The beliefs and cultural traditions of an individual or individuals influence their health-seeking behavior greatly. Some communities express pain based on their cultural beliefs and attitudes towards pain. In some cultures, it is a heroic and honorable act to endure pain. In this case, the practitioner’s recommendation of painkillers may vary depending on such communities’ attitude towards the problem (Liang et al, 2013). Evidence shows a disparity in painkillers’ dosages to patients by medical practitioners, although the dosage has reduced over time. In the assessment room, some individuals may not respond to pain because of their beliefs towards pain, leading to the doctors making a preliminary diagnosis. There are beliefs by some communities that letting a newborn or beautiful child stay…
