Despite the challenges, you experienced you finally made it and graduated high school. Based on your post, one can infer that extrinsic factors pushed you to succeed in high school. Extrinsic motivation refers to the desire that originates from outside ourselves to achieve set goals. In this case, making your family proud pushed you to persist and persevere in school. Similar to my life, the immense support and motivation from family have driven me to persist even in times I felt like quitting.
